The French can't even stand themselves. And here I thought they were COMPLETELY clueless.

In the last few months, there have been a slew of books published in the country slamming French policy with titles that translate to: "The Arrogant French," "The French in Disarray," and "France in Free-Fall."
Doubtless Chirac believes that the French publishing industry "missed a good opportunity to shut up."

"Chirac wants to revive France's glory days."
What glory days? Are they speaking of the days that the French sold weapons to Saddam?
France has become such a vile country and I will always consider them to be back stabbing cowards!

Readers are snapping up books that question whether or not the policies of French president Jacques Chirac are hurting their homeland.
I have found it difficult to believe that the French populace at large is as hostile to America as the liberal media would have us believe. I am not French, so I suppose that I can never really know for certain. Somehow, it just seems to me so unlikely though.
I have spent a very small amount of time in France, short duration for sure, but I pay attention to things, and I never saw anything like the anti-American sentiment that I have read so much about, in different medium.
I am of the mind that the Media, has a case of the ass against America, and the principles for which it stands. My conclusion is that there is something wrong with the Media, and not with America!

Yes, what happened is Kirk, McCoy, Spock and Scotty beamed down and found the cause of the French evil was a 1 million year old computer planted beneath bedrock that was controlling the minds of the French. The French would have to give offerings of Cheese everyday or this machine called "Le Liberal Slimeball" would cast great fear into them all, which is why they so frequently surrendered in the past. Kirk, using a greater logic than Spock, was able to get this machine to self destruct! It is true I tell you! It is true!

I kinda sorta disagree. I too have only visited France a short time. But I have met them there and here and for the most part the adults were charming, with the predictable condescending element.
Among the young, who I hung out with most, there were two types:
1. The first and probably the 2/3 majority loved America, but really had no clue about it. They like music, pop culture, etc, so of course the like all things American. They had a very odd view of America being a land of fun, sun, frivolity and movie stars. Not a bad attitude, just simple and prob. 60-75% of the college age types are in this "America is the land of cool" mindset. They are relatively clueless but harmless.
2. The other third of young French were so violently anti-Amrican it was downright funny. Picture the most kooky, conspiracy minded nut you know, make him a flaming Red and teach him French ....and then you'll understand the mindset of which I speak.
To this element simply being American meant I oppressed the third world, destroyed the planet and sold slaves on the weekend. Their view of America is just as simple and warped as the fun bunch, but with a much darker twist.
The problem is, the 2/3 that likes America never march in the streets burning flags. They're usually at Le Shopping Mall or work. (Yes, some French actually still have jobs)
The other folks, the pissy Franks, have nothing better to do but hate America,....or Jews,.....or whatever is in the news.

I will accept your description of the prototypical French of today. But, I have to say, who gives a shit? The French people have fallen on their asses time and again, and have allowed their country to be directed by a pack of mercenary bastards. France is supposed to be a democracy, which means that they get to choose their leaders. Bastards like Chirac and Raffarin are put in place by the French people and are a direct reflection of the general will. Screw France!
And Germany too! They're in the same camp as the French.

Merci, mais, pendant ma cerche de la verite` Plusiers choses arrive`.
I will not pretend that my French lessons still hold. They do not, but it is fun to pretend. I know just enough of the belle langue where I could get by, in a pinch. I highly doubt that I would ever find myself in a struggle against death itself where that would ever be neccesary.
My father, and the fathers of my friends, took care of that once and for all. Or so we thought!
The fact that it turns out that the French are eternally pussies, is something for the Courts of the Ages to deal with. As far as I am concerned, the French should just shut the eff up!

France's last glory days involved a short dictator who tried to fight more than it could handle. Not coincidently, the last time that their military had any sort success they were lead by a non-Frenchman (a Corsican). Hmmm, maybe that's why they rolled over so easily for that other short dictator.
To: pragmatic_asian
I also forgot to add that they've gone back to the Jew hating under that second second short dictator.

France has two hugh problems - the vast number of French that can be termed areligious and the vast number of French that can be termed irreligious. They're the most anti-God of any civilized country over there. That said, the nice French are wonderful people. France hasn't produced a Hitler. The worst of them aren't that vile. IMO the filth of Europe (I don't consider the Russians to be Europeans) is the nastiest 10% of the Germans. Worst of the worst.

That's odd. Ask any religious Freeper, and he'll tell you that without Biblical morality, anarchism, murder, chaos, and all manner of bad things are inevitable.
