Yep. I hope they're stupid enough to try to fool the voters twice. We're watching.

For all intents and purposes, it's dead in the water.

Its true that the pro-illegal licence people will try again (as they always do when they lose). But...at the moment, they have lost. And, as have been pointed out, they may have prevented this issue from going towards the voters and embarass themselves, that doesn't mean they have silenced opponets who will make sure this will NEVER been passed again by whatever sneaky political crap they intend to do.

The repeal of SB 60 by the Senate and the anticipated repeal by the Assembly is a clear effort to stop the voters from having their say, rather than an effort to stop illegal aliens from acquiring California drivers licenses. CA and the rest of the USA must know we are not going away on this issue! Ever!

A very interesteing article. Not for it's tone nor it's point of view nor it's correctmess but rather for what it didn't say.
In order for the illegal resident to be granted a liscense the legislature must not only pass the legislation but the governor must also sign it. Yet not a direct mention of the one official who could easily stop this insanity save for the passing reference "will satisfy the objections raised by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenneger". It 's almost as if FAIR is certain that Schwazrenegger will capitulate to the cultural seperatist in the legislature.
The article is very curious in the fact that it fails to point a finger at the one elected state official who is most subject to widespread public pressure. Cedillo is insulated from consequences in his specially engineered district which conntains the highest consentation of illegal aliens of any senatorial district in California. Cedillo won't be swayed by public outrage but Schwarzenegger could be. So why not put the pressure on Schwarzenegger right now?
Because he hasn't acted you say, and you'd be right. He hasn't acted but he has clearly left the door open for legitimizing such illegality and he has made it very clear that he won't prosecute this illegal activity.
From my perspective FAIR had better broaden their caution and take aim at the adult they recenlty helped elect instead of the legislative children they've tolerated for these past few years.

I see Senator Gil Cedillo as almost guarenteeing that he will be re-elected because he can say I tried once to get a Bill passed and it didn't work, so have no fear I will not quit trying. Let me keep fighting for you.
The fact that he tried once gives him a step up on the ladder.

The fact that he tried once gives him a step up on the ladder. His political life depends on it.
If you aren't familiar with Cedillo and his district let me explain. Cedillo is a single issue cultural seperatist. His sole responsibility is to forward the cause of Mexican nationals in California. To get a larger and larger share of the California tax pie for Mexicans and their US citizen descendents.
You're right. Cedillo will come at the tax payer again and again and again. That's his job. He has absolutely no interest in the general welfare of California.

... You're correct - Arnold will never prosecute illegal drivers ( ...that's not his job... )

Cedillo puts race ahead of nationality. Actually he puts culture ahead of nationality. More specifically he puts his cultural nationality, Mexican, ahead of his resident nationality, Californian.
If you're going to ascribe a racial title to Cedillo, more accurately he would be called a white supremacist since Mexicans are racially classified as white.
Cedillo, as do many bigots, ignores the definition of race to further his cultural cause. How silly would he seem in today's Balkanized society if he demanded equality and entitlement for all white immigrants.

This transfer of poverty-intellectual & cultural, as well as economic-is the crux of our domestic crisis.
Forcing or allowing the lower classes North, to work & send some major portion of their funds back South constitutes a form of slavery. This is no petty charge-it is a very large plan. Governments & corporations benefit. Taxpayers pay.
The two governments conspire to ship cheap labor across the border & the US taxpayers are burdened with fantastic charges for hospitals, medications, build & staff new schools all over the nation, build & staff new prisons to house the uncivilized, build new housing for 'poor', &etc.
We must not be distracted by the smaller issues ( though some require our constant attention ). The larger scheme is THE issue which I have never seen discussed in its true dimension, perceived as the genuine threat that it is.
This transfer of poverty-intellectual as well as economic-is the crux of our domestic crisis & it impinges on foreign conflict-as it weakens us, it threatens our national interests around the world.
Entire states are bankrupt & we are satisfied only to remove the governor? I think we must shout about the larger issue.
When will W step forward to acknowledge & work to stop this-when our entire nation is bankrupt? When crime & social collapse are no longer restricted to inner-cities & remote factory towns, where criminal aliens are encamped to slaughter beef & poultry? When the the blue-bloods are so threatened by taxation & physical harm as to shake the power structure?
When W, WHEN?
The Chinese must laugh at us-we will collapse into their patient & ready hands. We may collapse tired & exhausted by taxation & distracted by confusing petty political squables.
The very election cycle hangs over us like a sword. The media can be patient-they look forward to having even more power-the corporations are assured of profits. Only the petty taxpayer will suffer under the burden. Our Mandarins are secure-the government bureacrats, educational administrators & teachers, even petty government employees, ( including state & county ) are assured of full employment. Many of these groups will remain in unions & all will vote in mass FOR the power structure which grows their legions.
Only the few hundred thousand ( or perhaps a few million ) who seriously read the net ) will KNOW what is happening. The matador holds forth a red cape of terror & the masses charge.

When will W step forward to acknowledge & work to stop this-when our entire nation is bankrupt? I doubt that he has even thought of that. He's a big spender with our money. He has been financed by big business who demands slave labor in return, and somehow someone has convinced him that all the Mexicans will vote for him if he keeps the borders open and refuses to enforce immigration laws.
I think he's paving the way for his nephew George P. Bush to complete the Bush dynasty.

Sure - Fox and Bush are hunkered down somewhere discussing how many illegals they will convince to sneak across the border next month ....
