Yep. I hope they're stupid enough to try to fool the voters twice. We're watching.

For all intents and purposes, it's dead in the water.

Its true that the pro-illegal licence people will try again (as they always do when they lose). But...at the moment, they have lost. And, as have been pointed out, they may have prevented this issue from going towards the voters and embarass themselves, that doesn't mean they have silenced opponets who will make sure this will NEVER been passed again by whatever sneaky political crap they intend to do.

A very interesteing article. Not for it's tone nor it's point of view nor it's correctmess but rather for what it didn't say.
In order for the illegal resident to be granted a liscense the legislature must not only pass the legislation but the governor must also sign it. Yet not a direct mention of the one official who could easily stop this insanity save for the passing reference "will satisfy the objections raised by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenneger". It 's almost as if FAIR is certain that Schwazrenegger will capitulate to the cultural seperatist in the legislature.
The article is very curious in the fact that it fails to point a finger at the one elected state official who is most subject to widespread public pressure. Cedillo is insulated from consequences in his specially engineered district which conntains the highest consentation of illegal aliens of any senatorial district in California. Cedillo won't be swayed by public outrage but Schwarzenegger could be. So why not put the pressure on Schwarzenegger right now?
Because he hasn't acted you say, and you'd be right. He hasn't acted but he has clearly left the door open for legitimizing such illegality and he has made it very clear that he won't prosecute this illegal activity.
From my perspective FAIR had better broaden their caution and take aim at the adult they recenlty helped elect instead of the legislative children they've tolerated for these past few years.

The voters have teeth and the Soviets are gone, we are always looking for a good commie to toss in the fire and eat.
