Michigan tackles overdue child support; former Lion owes $298,259 (Bennie Blades)

The Michigan attorney general's office said it will arrest former Detroit Lions player Bennie Blades for neglecting to pay nearly $300,000 in child support.

Blades, 37, lives in Plantation, Fla., near Miami, and works for the Broward County school district. He has not paid any child support since November 1999, when a judge ordered him to make weekly payments of $860 for a daughter, said Attorney General Mike Cox. Blades owes $298,259.

Debtor's prison has vanished except for alimony and child suppport payments. Obviously he's a deadbeat and a scumbag, bur I don't know how being locked up will help this guy pay off his debt.

He has a brother Brian who played for the Seattle Seahawks that shot, killed, and was acquitted for the murder of their cousin after a family party. Glad to see one in the family be held accountable.
