Well, Free Republic can't help.
The farmer is at his gate with it locked. The police are there and now the county is going to have to get a court order to cut his lock. It is only a matter of hours before they tear down his house! Aren't we proud of our BIG GOVERNMENT saving us from ourselves!
His house might flood. So the government will destroy it so it can't flood!
Sad day on Bethel Island, CA in Contra Costa County.
Here is the police car, the police filling out some kind of papers. You can just see the farmer. He has only one eye and has a patch over his right eye.
Here is a link to the original thread. It was a plea for help, but it didn't work.

Oh.. Hope I am not in trouble. I should have said that:
Farmer's house to be destroyed in a matter of hours.
Can anyone add the word "Farmer's" in front of the subject.
I was thinking too narrowly.

It might FLY too. Shouldn't they get the FAA in there to work out a clearance and a departure route? What if it BURNS? Shouldn't the EPA be involved? And on and on and on and on...

I used to live in a flood plain. Whenever there are large flood losses and FEMA flood insurance takes a hit, they always try to get people to move by denying them flood insurance coverage. I can see that if the risk is high, but how can anyone make someone leave their property and destroy it if they are willing to live there without insurance? Is the property paid for and owned by the farmer? This seems like more than just a flood issue.

Damn
Houses in the Bay Area live near or on a fault. Maybe they should all be demolished before the next big quake does.

You're confused. If the house burns it's under the jurisdiction of the ATF. Call in janet reno...

"This seems like more than just a flood issue."Bingo. I refuse to believe that this man's house is being levelled simply because he may be located in a flood plain. Any first year law student could stop that. No, there is more to this story, with all due respect to the poster. I don't buy any of this.

big government is like a bulldozer, ready to plow you out of their way...in my case, to stop my mining a sand and gravel mining claim, they typed out a phony cease and desist order (w/o any kind of court order), had an armed Ranger hand deliver it to me at the site, and then they threatened me with fines and jail in every correspondence. In a hearing, they introduced fabricated evidence and when caught their ALJ Judge (John Rampton) said NO, as I (yes I had a fool for a client too, but cheapest one I knew at the moment) asked for a dismissal. NOBODY tells them (Bureau of Land Management) what to do and they are above the law, who do you call on the government? The taking of this man's home is yet another example of this distorted Democracy big governmnt engages in. The IBLA, highest gov't court in DC, after an appeal, ruled the gov't DID NOT have a court order to destroy my operation. When I asked for damages they said "Take us to Federal District Court"....anyone got a few million ??? aint this freedom wonderful ? the link to my website explaining all this is below if anyone wants the details.
