CA: Controller seeks to cut layer of agencies (Westly)

State Controller Steve Westly on Monday called on Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to consider abolishing or reducing the budgets of state agencies, which he said may add an unnecessary level of government.

"Everybody appreciates the need to streamline," Westly said. "It's important to reduce the number of layers in government. ...

Westly knows which side his bread is buttered on. The "sensible centrist" will start auctioning off excess furniture in his department to help close the deficit.

I think there's more to this story that meets the eye. If the Demo's are for it, it must be a bad thing. Especially if a former Davis-site is raving about the idea. Tread carefully, Arnold, this might be a trap.
