[history]
Terse report for now:
- NEW By popular demand Browse All Forums (Search is on the todo list.)
- FIXED The pager now alerts on new comments to you in any forum (it used to only alert for the News/Activism forum.)
- CHANGED General Interest now General Interest (Chat).
- I added color to the sidebar, tell me (politely!) what you think.
- Lots of misc. things under the hood.
There are a bunch of add'l changes/additions I'd like to make, and this is probably not the last update today. I'll update this thread if so.
Update #1
- You can choose your own color for each topic subscribed in your sidebar. See the subscriptions gadget (All but blue is probably dog ugly. Feel free to suggest new color schemes in standard web hexadecimal (one color for the background of the title the other for the background of the links)
Update #2
- A few trivial changes, mostly cosmetic.
- You can now search by time or relevance from the latest posts. And it remembers what your last search was and defaults to that. So NOW order by time can be your default search setting.
- Oh yeah, almost forgot, SPELL CHECK! (replies for now, articles will come later.)
Update #3
- New Posts to You from You has been vanquished. New posts will only alert when other people ping you.
- Playing with the position of the Spell check button. Sorry.
- Your personal menu has a new small treat inside.
- Fixed a couple bugs dealing with the spell check code.
- I'm not done yet.
Update #4:
- Okay, I have stopped dorking with the link colors. Back to the defaults they go. Thanks for baring my experiment, I figure it's the least you owe for All Forum posts. ;-)

I didn't make any links bright blue. The only blue I added was the pale background color on the sidebar. I think it might be your "Ignore Specified Colors" setting causing the blueness.
To: John Robinson
I don't like the blue color on the side, sorry.

I'm going blind!!! I need sunglasses for all the bright blue titles.
To: John Robinson
I fattened the sidebar by 5%. I wonder what havoc I may have just unleashed.

There is a setting in your browser to set your colors. Probably under edit, preferences. Have you tried that?
To: my_pointy_head_is_sharp
...is all blue. And a bright blue, at that. That's the way mine usually is.

Is "Chat" aka General Interest broke? No articles have been posted to "Chat" (or moved to "Chat") in 2 hours now....

You might be able to go to your IE settings and by the "Accessibility" button is a Color button. You can change the links to something other than blue. I changed it to navy and I thought it was comfy on my eyes.

Look, you've done plenty for one day. Very few people have even experimented with the sidebar colors at this point, because the only link to changing them is in the original post (I think).
As far as I'm concerned, changing the search function, and helping people find Chat, were the two most important changes. The spell check was also important to many here.
Thanks for what you've done so far. Anything else is gravy.

I've got "Use Windows Colors" selected, but the sidebar links are still in blue/black. The underlines will work once I get used to which is which. Could there be a color choice for default windows IE link colors?
To: Monty22
Make them colorless here:
My Subscriptions.
I think most people prefer the blue, and I think the blue generally looks better, so I made it the default, but we have the colorless option to go back to the old way.
To: smith288
Ahh, thank you! For some reason, they were both bright blue. They're now dark blue. Much better. Thanks!
To: glock rocks
There is "unvisted:" option...click it and it will give you a palette to choose from. Stick in the blue area but choose darker. You might like it better.

Color sucks I don't think color sucks, but one thing I can't stand is underlined links. I like the light background in the sidebar, although the lavender isn't my cup of tea. I would LOVE if the whole page was a very light gray background. Much easier on the eyes - the white is killing me. My current browser (Safari) doesn't let me set an override bg color.

I think the old sidebar links were easier on the eyes. #000099 with no background.
