I can't help but note the use of a normally favorite liberal tactic here. Invoke the welfare of the children when she's obviously talking about herself and her own sensibilities. The palpable panic and the overtly expressed desire to bury her head in the sand are, to me, pretty discrediting of an adult author. After this litany of things bad, and her insistance on helplessness, I wonder who she is proposing protect us (ur, um, our children I mean) from the evils of the World? This is just another nanny state appeal from the right this time.

I can see how you arrived at your opinion, but I viewed the article as commentary on our morally bankrupt culture. I didn't see an appeal for the government to do anything about it. Maybe I misread it.
