A hell of Michael's own choosing. If you read the letter that Mr. Schindler sent to MS back in July of '93, Mr. Schindler is clearly asking for there to be a way for them to patch things up so that Terri could be cared for.
Also, I can't imagine that the hell Michael's gone through is anything compared to the hell he has put Terri or the Schindlers through. I believe that is his main motivating force.
