[history]
ACCUSING Michael Jackson of sexual abuse comes with a hefty price tag.
A decade after shocking the world with allegations in 1993 that he was molested by the bizarro superstar, the lives of a California man and his relatives remain a living hell.

My oldest son, 6, often spends the night with my parents and he sleeps in the same bed as my mom. As many older folks do, my parents have separate bedrooms. My dad won't let my son sleep with him. Not because he thinks any of us will accuse him of anything but because he doesn't want my son telling someone at school, "hey I slept with my grandpa last night". I wouldn't have a problem with my son sleeping in the same bed as my dad but I understand his reasoning. He was in the military and you don't even give the appearance of ill behavior. That's why he couldn't understand someone in Clinton's position doing what he did.

Someone very close to me was molested. No intercourse involved and it only happened a couple of times. The person I would say was around 8 at the time. Scarred the person profoundly.
To: Hildy
288. (a) Any person who willfully and lewdly commits any lewd or lascivious act, including any of the acts constituting other crimes provided for in Part 1, upon or with the body, or any part or member thereof, of a child who is under the age of 14 years, with the intent of arousing, appealing to, or gratifying the lust, passions, or sexual desires of that person or the child, is guilty of a felony and shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for three, six, or eight years. As far as I can tell, it's a pretty narrow charge.
Are you crazy? You think that's not so bad or what? Excuse me if I'm reading you wrong.

It's not oral sex, it's not sodomy. IT'S BAD and the punishment should be harsh. My point is that it's not as bad as murder. I don't see how anyone can disagree with me.

I personally think any action that will damage a child for the rest of their life should be considered as bad as murder. We've seen it hundreds of times.

If that's the litmus test, I know many mothers and fathers who would be in jail. Fortunately the law doesn't work that way.

Some murderers can be set free after paying their debt to society and making some form of restitution. Child molesters cannot be cured. Period. They are the lowest of the low, even within the prison system.

If any friend of mine had a father who hugged and kissed and cuddled my children, well, I would at least end the friendship. Kissing and hugging your own seems fine to me. But grown men don't hug and cuddle and kiss other people's children unless they are either pedophiles or stupid. I hug, cuddle and kiss my nieces when I see them and they are 15 and 19 now. In fact, they inititiate it usually. I am the father and protector they never had because their own father was an abuser and molester. Only at my house were they ever really safe. I didn't know what was going on for 17 years until my sister-in-law finally tried to commit suicide and we got the truth out of her. I am not sick, perverted or stupid and those girls did need to be hugged and shown that they were loved.

I disagree with you. This guy should have the book thrown at him. The "hero" worship that goes on over "stars" in this country is disgusting. Pleeease, the jerks a pedophille. He preys on children. He should never be allowed around a child again. Of course you would think parents would already have understood this, from the first boy. Maybe this mom just thought he was a misunderstood child at heart too.

Those sleazy liberal hollywood PI's are such compassionate types:
They all remain emotionally traumatized by the events, an uncle told The Post.
Not even a multimillion-dollar settlement could end the madness and mayhem for the family - who spent years looking over their shoulders for obsessed fans and crazed Jackson associates.
"There were serious threats. We took them very seriously," said the uncle, whose name is being withheld by The Post to keep from identifying the victim.

You said it well!! A SICK, sick WORLD.!!! More accurately: an EVIL, Evil WORLD! As long as we call it "sickness" there's room for "treatment" that allows avoidance of punishment. As it is, there's an excellent chance Jacko will avoid prison and just be committed to a cushy, so-called "mental institution" for a few years.
To: Hildy
We just disagree. I have no personal experience with molesters with me or my family or friends. But my work brings me in contact with people who have had such experience as well as pedophiles so I know a great deal about them and their means and their essential inability to change for the most part. I have little pity for them. When you weigh the big things in one's life,,the good you did, the bad things that happened to you and the bad things you did to people they weigh in very heavily on the latter. It is a shame but pity for abusers enables them.

I don't know. The whole thing is horrible. But I can pretty much predict that MJ will not go to jail. How could a person like that survive in jail? They'll either put him away in an institution or he'll kill himself.

Now here are also allegations that Michael J. has a close relationship with the mob -- notably Melkin(sp?) who has been supporting him financially and otherwise and might well be behind some of the harassment.

I appreciate what you say. But the children of mollesters have frequently had their boundaries violated and they are very vulnerable. They need very much to be loved but if you are a grown man and they are teenagers I would suggest you respect what may have happened to them and only hug or kiss them in a fatherly way around other people. As to cuddling, that seems to me to be inappropriate even for a father of a teenage girl. Same thing with mothers. I don't think people quite understand the concept of boundaries between adults and children and what happens to people when those boundaries are violated and especially by a trusted person who combines love and sexual excitation in the same act. People who have been mollested have grave difficulties in trusting, have the sense that they haven't been in control of their bodies or feelings and are very easily retraumatized by what seems like ordinary stuff to most of us. I am glad you love your nieces and all I am saying is be respectful of them and careful of yourself.

Just a thought in passing, LaraCroft, but it's most unusual for a "femaile" to misspell the word "female." Perhaps it has something to do with your post on your About Page .. "I am the freakin poster child for diversity." If you'd care to elaborate ...

If he goes to jail he will probably be in some kind of protected custody. But an institution? I don't think so. He is weird and out of the norm, but he knew what he was doing assuming he did it and he hid it. That means he is criminally responsible. If you are psychotic and go naked in the street trying to fondle people you may be able to claim craziness. But to do this over years, elaborate of life that supports it, hide it from others,,,well that is criminal but not crazy. I think his days are numbered. If he gets off, I just don't know.
