To: HiJinx
The biggest danger to this pipeline is.....our government. It comes from an open source and leaks in a hundred places. It has been in use since 1882 with no problems but the State keeps threatening to shut it down. It is out of compliance with a dozen regulations and I don't know how they keep it open. The last big push to shut it off was about 10 years ago. Some jerk from the state condemned it until he was shut up by someone higher (and smarter).

There's a related thread this morning discussing the Renzi Rider. Even though Ft. Huachuca is required to share some responsibility for water use in the San Pedro Valley, note where (some of) Tombstone's water comes from?

I don't necessarily think Tombstone should lose this source of water, but that particular pipeline needs renovation and the source needs to be protected. Maybe heads-on-pikes is an idea whose time has come...?
