Great comments on this thread!

I think you are right, the military in Turkey is willing to let democracy happen, but as "Guardians of the Exalted Nation" there are some things they will not allow.
That is the inheritance of Kemal Ataturk. Pakistan has much the same tradition.

W. learned all the right lessons from the mistakes made during the Clinton "wars". Learned from the Clintonoids not to respond in paranoid fear.
Learned from us what we should have done (came to this conclusion myself recently). Leave the door open and let the fools rush out and drop into the abyss.

The one setpiece speech delivered by the President at the Banqueting House was more subtle, fluent, multidimensional and pitched to appeal to non-Texan ears than had been generally anticipated.
As a service to all the poor dumb Texans here who have trouble with big words I translate.
He done good, real good.
Pikamax, Thanks for posting this. I really don't know weather to laugh (at their stupidity) or cry (that they're that stupid).

There really are BIG THINGS afoot.
Last year while having breakfast with a friend (freeper powderhorn) he said "You DO know that George Bush wants nothing less than the complete reordering of the world."
Like or not, approve of his policies or not, but we must admit this guy dreams BIG DREAMS. One might almost say Texas size dreams.
