A report on anti-Semitism in Europe has been shelved by the EU's racism watchdog after it found that Muslims and pro-Palestinian groups were behind many of the incidents, the Financial Times has reported.

"The decision not to publish was a political decision," a source familiar with the report told the Financial Times. He said the report had uncovered a "trend towards Muslim anti-Semitism, while on the left there is also mobilisation against Israel that is not always free of prejudice".

The story you will never EVER see posted on the DU boards...

"Muslim anti-Semitism"

I know this isn't the point of the article, but isn't that a bit like calling dogs "anti-canine"?

No. If you research the term you will find that antisemitism almost always meant antijewish. It arose during a period in Europe when racism was acceptable but being anti any creed was not. To be absolutely clear, you can use the term muslim antijewishness. Don't bet that you won't hear protests. Clarity is NOT what too many seem to want. For instance, what is it today which is almost always referred to as "the religion of peace?" See what I mean?

I love when people play semantics with semitism, it shows a desperation...of what I am not sure.

A deputy board member not named by the paper confirmed the directors of the EUMC had regarded the study as biased, adding that they had judged the focus on Muslim and pro-Palestinian perpetrators to be inflammatory.

Oh, of course....and we mustn't inflame those peaceful, peace-loving followers of the religion of peace.

Translation: We received numerous death threats when CAIR got ahold of the study.

In the literal sense yes.

But like Homophobia the term was coined for a specefic idea and has been used to denote solely that idea.

The European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC) decided not to publish the research after clashing with its authors over their definition of anti-Semitism, which included anti-Israel acts, the paper said.

I don't know weather to laugh or cry.

Actually DU did talk about this. They were making excuses like "it would just inflame more violence". Bunch of pathetic losers.

"I love when people play semantics with semitism, it shows a desperation...of what I am not sure."

If you figure it out let me know, because I'm not sure either. I happen to be Jewish and believe that Jew haters should be called just that.

Addressing the main point of the article, it is a disgrace that these cowards decided not to publish the study because they don't like the results (which would be obvious to anyone who's ever picked up a newspaper).

You have a good point. But are you sure they aren't saying "a religion of piss"?

I happen to be Jewish and believe that Jew haters should be called just that.

I, too, happen to be Jewish... and we already have an excellent descriptive term ifor Jew-haters in place. That term is "anti-Semites."

There have been those, in recent years, who have attempted to dillute and render harmless said phrase, by retroactively declaring that "Arabs, too, are Semites." (Note, however, that no Arabs rushed to claim that mantle during World War Two, when it actually might have meant something for them to do so.)

As a general rule, however: it is regarded, hereabouts, as a fairly transparent attempt at redefining the debate, so that honest discussions of anti-Jewish hatred and violence may more readily be sidetracked to "... well, but the Muslims have it bad, too" sorts of irrelevance.

(NOT saying this is what you were doing, mind: just explaining for your benefit, is all.)
