Well, this is going to be fun to watch the reaction of the "watermelons". They are going to go apoplectic.

What overgrown forests, they all burned down.

You're a day late and a dollar short.

Hardly - only 10% of the southern CA infested forests burned. There are similar conditions here in northern CA and in the Sierra. The funds for this are a drop in the bucket for what needs to be done.

I serve on a federal advisory committee for the Northwest Forest Plan and federal land managers are now finding that they have to treat Late Seral Reserves (old growth) because it is dying, falling over or blowing down and is losing all of its old grwoth characteristics. There is even a proposal to swap out previously designated LSRs for suitable matrix (harvestable) land to protect nests that have been found in the matrix lands. (Fremont National Forest.)

Over 3 years in the making... . incredible. How many acres and boardfeet burned the last 3 years? What a waste.

Brought to you by envirowackos and their marionette string pullers.

Congre$$ at its finest, indeed. (/sarcasm)

Yup. "The bill, which goes to President George W. Bush for his signature, resembles the president's "Healthy Forests Initiative," which would streamline approval of projects to thin overgrown forests."

W got it early, but the Libs turned it down. It took 3/4 million acres to burn to prove the point. Also, W clears his own ranch of underbrush. Does he do this for logging reasons? /sarcasm on last sentence.

This is always the problem with socialism.

No one and everyone owns our federal socialist forests. The forests get abused, mis-used and finally used up. No surprise here. The forests will continue to burn.

Every twig the federal government owns should be sold to private property owners. That will end the conflagrations, except for the parts bought by the eco-fascists. Then at least they will be culpable and can be sued.
