Bombshell: Kobe Accuser Had Sex with Key Witness
The Globe ^ | 11/20/03 | Globe

Posted on 11/21/2003 11:44:43 AM PST by Smogger

A new bombshell revelation in the Kobe Bryant case threatens to destroy the credibility of the prosecution’s key witness - whose testimony could send the basketball superstar to jail for years. Sources told GLOBE that the 19-year-old woman who has accused Bryant of rape told them she had sex with the prosecution’s star witness Bobby Pietrack - a week before she met Bryant.

Pietrack, a 23-year-old bellhop at the resort where the alleged rape took place, is the first person Katelyn Faber told about her encounter with Bryant. He can testify about her emotional state and physical appearance at the time.

But legal experts tell us that if there was a sexual encounter between Katelyn and the bellhop, it could wreck his credibility and sink the case of the Eagle County, Colo., prosecutor.

For all the details of this blockbuster story, pick up the new issue of GLOBE.

That is a media characterization of his statement. He certainly feels his case is strong and release of certain information would be prejudicial, but you failed to demonstrate he claimed to have a "slam dunk".

You are a jackass

And this is the kind of witty retort you get when you strike too close to home. You wouldn't by chance have a law degree, would you?

Look, Skywalk, I have no argument with you. I frankly don't care whether or not Kobe is found guilty or not guilty. It won't have a direct impact on my life one way or another. But seeing so many here project their wishes for his innocence into their posts is a bit disturbing. So one of two things will happen. He'll either get off (a poor choice of words, given the topic) and you can crow about how "justice" was served and you were right all along and that mean trashy little slut got everything she deserved and more, or he'll be found guilty, and you can find another NBA player to worship. Either way, your life will go on pretty much the same as well. So the name calling, while likely to get you a few high fives from the other kids on your team, really won't advance or harm the Kobe case in any way. Therefore, it probably would be okay to withhold it in the future.

Well there's a difference. Those three cops weren't found guilty of state criminal charges; they were found guilty of federal civil charges. Big difference.

I'm still correct in how I'm applying the law in relation to what an arresting agency does vs. what a prosecutorial agency does.

Well the judge hasn't seen all the evidence presented in this case either.

I keep an open mind, if you will :-)

Looks like Kobe is going to walk on this one, especially with a high powered defense team. Most of the big profile legal whores (Geragos, for instance) could get him cut with even less to work with than in this case.

I'm the last person to cite religion as a reason to condemn him, but he has been exposed as not being the boy scout that he tried to pass off as his image. I'm glad to see him suffering for being a hypocrite, and he deserves the loss of endorsement contracts, no way should he be held up as an example of someone to follow.

I just fear that an acquittal will tell him and others like him that its OK to fool around with all the women who throw themselves at sports figures.

I won't be on the jury. So what my mind thinks about this case is really not relevant.

I didn't say "so much" blood, I said "as much a she did" in order to leave smears. I didn't claim it was gallons or deviate at all from what is a known fact.

There is absolutely NO testimony about how much blood was seen in her underwear; NONE; it was testified to as "what appeared to be blood," nothing more. So "as much as" doesn't mean anything either!

It does not say anywhere in the judge's ruling that he didn't see it; it says it was found by the lab, period. And it wasn't described as "streaks" and the size was NOT discussed. And the lab said it was a transfer from another source.

The really cheesy part of the detective's testimony was that it wasn't until Mackey crossed him that he admitted that he didn't actually SEE it until the lab showed it to him UNDER A MICROSCOPE.

Okay, I just thought I would give it a try.

I thought I read somewhere she didn't even realize she had been raped untill she spoke to Mommy. The boyfriend dimension adds just a little more to that. She started spinning a yarn, and just got carried away.

July 23: Denver Post: Bray said the woman was working the front desk at the Lodge & Spa at Cordillera in Edwards when Bryant, 24, a player for the Los Angeles Lakers, arrived about 10 p.m. The two had a friendly exchange as the woman processed Bryant's paperwork and handed him room keys, Bray said. "She said she felt a certain amount of chemistry with him," Bray told The Denver Post. A short time later, Bryant asked the woman - a 2002 Eagle Valley High School graduate and University of Northern Colorado student - to show him around the resort, said Bray, who has talked at length with the woman during her recent stays with him and his wife, Starlene, also a high school friend. The woman, flattered by Bryant's offer, accepted. She was on duty but not busy because of the late hour. She was due to go off duty at 11 p.m. "She said he was just really down to earth, and that he was acting like a great guy," Bray said. "He was easy to talk to." The two of them strolled around the main lodge of the sprawling 56-room resort. At some point, Bryant invited her into his room, Bray said. "She had thoughts of declining," Bray said. "But he had been nice. She felt safe about doing that." The woman told Bray that she soon realized it was nearly time for a shift change and that she had to be back at the front desk to punch out. "Once she told him she had to leave, his attitude started to change," Bray said. "From there the story gets crazy." Bray refused to give details of what he called "the attack" because of requests from the woman's family and her attorney. But Bray said the woman has obvious physical injuries that are still visible three weeks after the incident. "I can't wait for this to get in front of a jury so they can see what happened," Bray said. "Their jaws will hit the floor, and they will convict him." Bray said that whatever happened after the incident is unclear because the woman was "really emotional and upset" as she left Bryant's room. Some reports have said the woman was hysterical and visibly upset. Bray said the woman doesn't remember much. He said she made the 30-minute drive from the lodge to her home in Eagle by herself and was home by midnight. The next morning she told her mother and a friend about what happened, Bray said. "It was her mother that knew right away what happened," Bray said. It was her mother, Bray said, who told the woman, "You were raped."

What is this NOW crap?
Are you implying that rape DOESN'T ever happen?

Don't get personal please.

I am a geezer,
I have lived a long time,
I have comforted a couple of friends who only told their stories long after the incident happened (and only then in great embarassment).
And I heard lots of stories from my country grannies.

I will take to my grave this bit of knowledge....
Rape happens a lot and most of the time, it goes unreported.

You called him 'guilty', and I said that in the eyes of God, that is not your judgment to make. Is that hard to understand?

Did I? I suggest you read my original post again. I went out of my way to state I don't know if he is guilty or not guilty. I stated he was not innocent. That is something totally different. I believe if you re-read why I posted, you'll see I made no claim as to his guilt.

I didn't even mention her underwear...I referred to bleeding enough to leave smears on his shirt.

Period.

Actually, he's seen more than we have or have even heard about.

He all but said that if the state laws didn't require him to lean HEAVILY to the prosecution, they'd all be free for the holidays.

I remember reading reports that the DA's office was FURIOUS that Bryant was arrested without consultation of the DA's office; and I remember reading that it had happened before and the case had to be withdrawn.

I have spoken to Fox News correspondant Carol McKinley a little bit who is covering this story for Fox News. She was the one who broke the t-shirt story. She said the Sheriff and the DA are barely on speaking terms.

Is that the picture of the accuser? It's the first time I've seen her.

Good. Let's see more of the gold-digging mega-slut. I hope when Kobe is acquitted and faces a civil trial that he spends $10 million, if neccessary, to defeat this skunk, so she doesn't get a single dime and has to pay HIS legals bills. She should pay for her fraud.

I don't think this is a bombshell.

A slut can still be raped. Now if she had charged the bellhop and whoever else with rape, she may have a problem.
