Council, Va. (AP) - A sheriff in Virginia says there's no hope two young kids swept away in a flood are still alive.
Cadaver-sniffing dogs have been called in as crews continue looking for 4-year-old Kayley Runyon and her 2-year-old brother Christian.
The kids were ripped out of their parents' arms when floodwaters slammed into their Council mobile home. The parents were later rescued.
Buchanan County's sheriff says there's no doubt in his mind the kids are dead - because they couldn't have survived the waters alone.
The strong storms that ripped areas in the Appalachians and along the East Coast are blamed for at least nine deaths.
States of emergency are in place for several areas of Virginia and West Virginia, where Governor Bob Wise says residents are weary after two major storms in two weeks

Prayers for the family and little ones. I can't help but remember the baby who was found alive in a tree after a tornado. There may still be hope.

The bodies were found later today. A pic of the kids is up on the Fox News website's article. Very tragic. The parents did all they could. Sometimes I wonder what God is up to when children die. I know they're in a better place now, but their parents and families will live in pain forever. I hate these kinds of stories, and as a parent, you just can't help but feel strong emotions and perhaps a sense of loss.
