It's not just the NY Times. These two stories were not reported by ABCNBCCBSCNNMSNBC or any other Newspapers besides the Washington Times and the NY Post.
Their silence is quite telling.

The writers and editors of this newspapers are blatantly and intellectually dishonest, and I foresee no time in which they will change. It's a lost cause. So, just sit back and enjoy their self-destruction.
I am not suggesting that the Times will go under. They will hang on to a hard core of subscribers who refuse to see the obvious, but they will lose influence.
