Press Release

Birthday for Terri Schindler-Schiavo Recognized

Gathering planned by supporters of Pinellas woman
on December 3rd in honor of her 40th birthday.

For Immediate Release

Clearwater, FL December 2, 2003:

People from as far away as the West Coast of the United States are expected to convene at the Hospice Woodside in Pinellas Park, Florida, to recognize the 40th birthday of Terri Schindler-Schiavo.

Jeanie Dicus of California has hand-crafted a quilt with lavender flowers and intricate needle-work for a gift. Cheryl Ford of Florida has put together a collage of photos from people around the world who support the disabled woman and her plight. Several hundreds of hand-crafted birthday cards have been sent to Ms. Schiavo, through the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation as well. Of these, many have come from citizens in the disabled community. Moreover, upwards of 600 emailed prayers and personal notes have been received through Terri’s web site on www.terrisfight.org

Supporters are expected to gather shortly after business hours on Wednesday, December 3, 2003, to engage in quiet support and to acknowledge the disabled woman’s birth day.

Statement from Pamela Hennessy, Volunteer for the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation: “It is so very good to know that so many people see Terri as a person and not an ‘issue’. This gives us all pause to consider those amongst us who may not be able to speak for themselves – but who are still, very much part of our human race.”

As hundreds of well-wishers across the country mark Terri Schiavo's 40th birthday with cards, pictures, music CDs and prayers, the legal battle over whether it will be the brain-damaged woman's last birthday takes another turn.
