Lou Dobbs, had an interesting answer that makes more sense than labor and votes.
When the US Census is taken, all illegals, along with citizens are counted. The catch- In order to have enough total numbers to redistrict, the illegals are counted in also. Calif gained 4 or 5 new districts, which entitles them to another 4 or 5 new representatives. And where does this split come from, other states loose a representative, and 4 or 5 states did loose a representative. Texas is another state that had redistricting, and another state had to give up one of their representatives. So until that little blip in the law is outlawed, the state senators and representatives are not going to do a thing about illegal immigration. It all comes down to power, what ever party has the most representatives, has the power to control the House.

The Dems will have more people shackled on their plantation. My thoughts exactly
By promoting illegal immigration, the GOP is committing political suicide.
Try to tell this to some of our fellow freepers.

Tancredo says protecting our borders is the 1st priority. It is patently obvious. But our PC GOP and POTUS can't seem figure out that the only delivery systems terrorists have is a pass through our borders. They have turned a blind eye to the imminent danger of those who enter the country, and focused their attention five thousand miles away.
The immigration issue has been so slickly side-stepped, ya gotta wonder.

Join us for our series of special reports, "Broken Borders." We take a look at what Washington is doing to secure U.S. borders. What programs are in progress and what is coming up? Is it enough? We take an in-depth look.
Also, former Secretary of the Treasury and Director, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Member of the Office of the Chairman of Citigroup Robert Rubin talks to Lou.
And, Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson is our guest.

Yes,he talked about the reasons that both Dems and GOP will do nothing to deal with the illegal immigration problem regardless of the fact that 70-80% of Americans (both Dems and GOP) think this is a major problem.

I thought the topic about the tick infested Mexican cattle wandering into the US was pretty scary too. Three days and the cow is dead!

We've got some serious problems on that border. There was a huge hepatitis outbreak in Pennsylvania not far from me too, the result of illegal aliens. Something has to be done sooner or later.

Animal rights advocates lecture us on not releasing exotic pets into the wild. They say the exotic pets would disrupt the local environment. The same principle applies in regards to illegal immigration.

Animal rights advocates lecture us on not releasing exotic pets into the wild. Not to mention environmental groups. Their silence on what's going on at the border is deafening.

TANCREDO '04! Think he'll run in the primaries next year?

Republicans want the cheap labor, and White House wants the Hispanic vote. Votes and cheap labor are evidently much more important than national security to this short-sighted bunch. If this crisis isn't dealt with immediately and effectively, the end our Republic will be the inevitable result.

Stopping amnesty for illegals should be our #1 priority.
