A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos) - 11.20.03
Yahoo.com | 11-20-03 | ohioWfan

Posted on 11/20/2003 12:54:41 PM PST by ohioWfan

The President had a busy day in London today, with a visit with Laura to Westminster Abbey, and a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior, a meeting at 10 Downing Street with Tony and Cherie Blair, a joint press conference with the two strongest leaders in the world, and a visit to a London school for a Shakespearian production by the children for the First Ladies, and a tour of the Faberge items at the Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace.

There are more than a hundred photos out there today, and even with culling a bit, I will be posting many!

Enjoy your (massive) Daily Dose of Dubya!!

Thanks for posting that excellent picture of our two pillars of strength. It's now on my homepage as I'd been wanting a pic of the two men.

I'm thinking of two young boys growing up, one in England and the other in the United States. I picture each of them as a scamp, a boy who took dares, a boy who was a leader.

Neither one of them was aware that someday he would meet the other. But each grew into a man with the leadership qualities desperately needed to protect a threatened world.

Then I look at Tony Blair and George Bush, the leaders of the free world, and I bow my head and say, "Thank you God." And may the playing fields of Eton and the Yankee love of freedom rule forever.

(Am I really your hero, McLynnan? :o)

But of course! (patting OWF on the head). Agreed about Jacko. I just did a make up analysis on his mug shot on another thread. The boy needs to learn to be a bit more subtle with his trowel. Sometimes less is more, don't you think? But enough of him! I LOVED W's speech yesterday. I didn't have time to read the posts on FR, so I didn't see what all the loyal Dose people said, but I think that speech ranks right up there with his State of the Union after 9/11 and the UN speech.

The consensus was that his speech was among, if not the best he's ever given.

In a word, magnificent!

btw, about Jacko and the trowel......LOL! Did you hear that his stats when he was booked today were 5'11" 120 pounds! Yikes he IS a scarecrow!

I very much want to go to Bath - and walk in that garden with the waterfall where "Northanger Abbey" was filmed, and walk up the hill "with" Captain Wentworth and Anne ... sigh ... I am a major Anglophile, while being extremely appreciative of our societal differences from our cousins. And I adore Austen's works. I read through them all at least once a year. Am on Mansfield Park right now.

I got a book from the library some time ago called something like Walking Tours of Bath. It looks like a wonderful place to visit.

You're welcome, Peach! There were some great ones of these two 'pillars of strength,' but I liked that one best, and I figured it deserved first place.

Ah! Fanny Price........supposed to be the closest character to the author herself!

Sometimes I wish we could still speak like Jane Austen characters, don't you?

Reading your tag line prompts me to mention that The Elijah List (http://www.elijahlist.com) is sending out an urgent prayer request for more prayer to cover the life of our president for this Saturday, November 22, the 40th anniversary of JFK's assassination. They have received input from Christians unconnected with each other, in many quarters, that they are feeling a need for extra prayer for his protection on that date -- I had felt it too, without knowing why. The enemies of freedom do find meaning in symbolism, but God is bigger than their evil and I pray any plans of the enemy are thwarted before they can do harm.

The Queen always looks EXTREMELY APPROPRIATE. She is not supposed to be a fashion plate, but one thing I have noticed over the years is that all her clothes are superbly cut and tailored, they always fit her perfectly. No detail is left to chance. She is a gracious and stately lady, and maintains a pretty amazing schedule, especially for somebody in her mid-70's.

I'm a little bummed out by what Laura is wearing. Brown, brown, brown! Brown tweed dress at No 10 and at the abbey; brown lace at the American ambassador's dinner! Few women wear brown really well, and I do not think Mrs. Bush is one of them. She is such a lovely lady, why is she hiding herself under all that brown?

The burgundy dress with the velvet top at the State Dinner was a GREAT color for her, only spoiled by the wierd-looking white gloves, which looked like an afterthought -- since they did not appear to fit either under or over her dress. She needed to have shorter sleeves (or fuller) for gloves to look right. I wondered if perhaps she had not been warned that protocol required gloves, and they were acquired after the dress had already been chosen. I notice that she was not wearing gloves at the American ambassador's dinner, although the Queen was.

Thank you for taking precious time to post the dose, OWF. While I don't post much these days, I certainly appreciate viewing pics of our President and First Lady, etc...and learning what happened on a given day.

Wonderful pics.

**does laura's dress/coat outfit look a little english, and almost by definition, a little dowdy?**

I think the dress is tasteful and quite lovely. Laura wears what she likes and feels comfortable in.

***does laura's dress/coat outfit look a little english, and almost by definition, a little dowdy? just asking. she looked great yesterday. this outfit was a bit disappointing. ***

Hate to criticize, but I agree with you. But her beautiful smile makes everything at least look OK on her. Guess since the war is going OK, the economy is looking better, the Dem, candidates don't have anything to talk about, she graciously decided to GIVE them something to be critical of so they didn't hurt themselves trying to come up with something. :-)

Thanks for this pic. I love seeing photos of "the tank," i.e., the new presidential limousine. Whenver I get the chance, I enjoy watching the president's security detail in the background and their perpetually unamused expressions, LOL! The man who was President Bush's lead Secret Service agent at the time of 9/11 either retired or changed posts sometime during the year following. I have often wondered if the strain of those days weighed so heavily on him that he decided to retire, but of course I'll never know the answer.
