Organisers of todays huge demonstration in London against the controversial visit of President George Bush say that up to 150,000 people joined the protest.
The numbers taking part in a march and others waiting in Trafalgar Square for a rally were a record for any weekday protest in the UK, it was claimed.
Stop The War Coalition said 130,000 people were on the march, which started close to Euston Station and was passing the House of Commons and Whitehall before ending at Trafalgar Square.
Around 15,000 people lined the route of the march, waiting to join in, while thousands more waited in Trafalgar Square.
This phenomenal response shows the depth of feeling of the British public towards this visit, said a spokesman.

And we're just supposed to swallow this line and believe it, like good little socialists.
Like a fellow FRper said, "Vermin."

First it's 200,000, then 150,000 now
ABC news radio is saying it's 70,000.
Eventually FOX will report the truth: 25,000.

Over 600,000 attended the Simon and Garfunkel concert in Central Park,
Over 100,000 will attend the OSU-Michigan game Saturday.
Over 20,000,000 voted for Al Gore
Nearly 15,000,000 people live around London, this means a 1% turnout.
I remember when Hobart College use to get 6,000 people at a lacrosse game, living in a city of 14,000. This demonstration is pretty pathetically attended.

No, not really.
Actually, it means
(1) The organizers are LYING (as they always do, claiming more people showed up than really did) AND/OR
(2) Socialistic UK has ALOT of unemployed. Nothing better to do than hang about with the crowds.
(3) Alot of those that showed up may just have wanted to see Bush and Blair. Not all are necessarily "PROTESTORS."
Sorry, I'm not buying this jive-a$$ turkey's story. Go sell your gas to the ACLU.

Nearly 15,000,000 people live around London, this means a 1% turnout.I agree with the logic of your point. But let's not forget that most of these useful idiots were brought in from around Britain and the rest of Europe on specially chartered buses and a significant number were just liberal-brainwashed school children playing truant. Everyone I spoke to today in Britain thinks that the Bush visit is OK, except for two of my French colleagues. I wonder how many Frenchies came across on the Eurostar for this little lefty get together?
