There are way too many non-breaking news stories being placed in breaking news. It's gotten so bad, this is in breaking news. Please, if the story has been posted once in breaking news, it doesn't belong there again unless it's a critical update. Also, don't abuse topics. A story does not need to be posted in every single topic. It does not generate more hits to your thread.
Michael Jackson, Kobe Bryant, Scott Peterson, etc, are not breaking news, unless convicted. This is tabloid journalism, we are a conservative forum.

Unfortunately, these stories seem to be THE ONLY news reported.
I am particularly sick of Scott Peterson. Here in San Diego that story rivals
Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941.

For the aforesaid reasons, I heartily encourage you to become a zot-attractor.
We really must get the scientists here at FR to give us a more physics-based analysis of the relationship between those who willfully defy Admin authority and the presence of zot-based electrical charges here at FR. It's a very interesting, again I say heartening, phenomenon.

Let's just let breaking news become a free-for-all, post whatever you wish. How about mindless one line vanities? Or caption this photo? What about men's body parts being removed? Or the latest from Joe Millionaire? Maybe the 4 exact one line breaking news stories from MSNBC, Foxnews, CNN, ABC? We've removed them all and much more from breaking news.

Just post it in " News That Already Broke "

You sound very certain, and yet I'm very certain that if we put it to a vote here, you'd lose -- resoundingly.
I didn't realize truth was subject to a vote. Perhaps you meant to say that you believe my assertion about your accuracy would be proven false after further examination of the facts.
People are sick and tired of people bit___ing about the admins.
No doubt. Most of the time I would agree with this attitude. However, NOT when the Admin violates his own rule to insist that people not violate his own rule - and a somewhat subjective rule at that. In this limited case, I have no problem with people kvetching.
You're wrong, and I'm not sorry to point it out.
Did you take a vote to find out I was wrong, or did you decide it all by yourself?
Admins do a good, thankless job here. They should get tons more latitude.
No argument here, mostly.
People who post about their right to whine -- and I realize that wasn't you, but that "low" guy -- are (1) boring and (2) annoying and (3) ungrateful for the work Admins too.
Actually, go re-read his posts. He never posted about his right to whine; simply that he WOULD whine. I'm the one who posted about his RIGHT to whine. I only jumped in because I agreed with his underlying point - that is: 'Breaking News' is a subjective term, and when the Admin himself posts NON-Breaking News in Breaking News to tell people to stop posting NON-Breaking News, it doesn't do much to clarify the term.
So go take your vote. Win or lose, it means diddly-squat. (Unless you can convince the Admin to bounce me, which would probably make you feel better, but won't make me any more or less accurate.)

Isn't "Breaking News Abuse" a one line vanity?
My point was that this post was taking up space and y'all do such a fine job keeping the crap out anyway. These notes don't reduce the number of stupid postings and keeping this post at the top is just annoying me and my pocketPC...

Thank you. At last, somebody "gets" it.

So would 10 stories on Michael Jackson. It's just for today until the message is seen by the nighttime posters. Thanks.

I do notice that the idiots keep posting crap like "label the picture"...
Admin... please keep the MJ threads away from the grownups.
Pretty please?

Maybe the 4 exact one line breaking news stories from MSNBC, Foxnews, CNN, ABC? We've removed them all and much more from breaking news. That actually brings up a good idea. How about limiting breaking news stories to stories that have articles, and are sourced? That might stop the dupe's, and limit the number of "series" and "hugh" jokes that pervade non-sourced stories.

That has been discussed, but for really legitimate breaking news stories, like 9-11, or the war, there is value.
To: Admin Moderator
I see.. and actually, when I thought about it after I posted it, I remembered several times during the war that events happened and no stories were immediately available online, even within 30 minutes.
As usual, I jump the gun. ;)
