This is what should happen every day. Instead, JC Penney will be apologizing, and the police act like they did something wrong.

Flores, who is Mexican-born, has been a legal U.S. resident since 1990 and holds a J.C. Penney credit cardWhat's the pertinence of this statement? So what if he has a JC Penny credit card....Buh-bye auntie

...a growing national debate over the role of local police in enforcing federal immigration laws. There's a debate over whether or not police should enforce the law? According to whom? Some useless pack of lefties, no doubt. Anyone involved in preventing local police from enforcing the law is entering into a conspiracy with the law-breakers and they need to be arrested, charged, and tried for it.

See, the wife should have paid the Mexican government rep the extras bucks and picked up several more Matricula cards. They are relatively cheap and can be written with all sorts of variants of the same name so a stupid gringo will never be able to tell the difference.

I guess local police should just ignore anything not illegal under local law. Does that extend to state law? Heck of a precedent to set.

"It was humiliating for me and for my family," he said. "They never gave me a concrete answer. They never said, 'You are guilty of this.' "
We're so sorry that being discovered harbouring illegals was 'humiliating' but it's also illegal dim bulb.

Absolutely. Don't hang out with criminals. I think they were very lucky no one was charged with anything, unlike what would happen to someone in Mexico...
To: Defiant
How long before JC Penney's gets sued for "profiling" or "discrimination"? You can bet that all store employees will be in sensitivity and diversity training before the Christmas rush.
Ands since when are local Police supposed to ignore Federal Laws?
What's that smell? It's the ACLU's legal roaches coach pulling into your local shopping mall.

They'd have a case if he were also deported, but since he is legally here, there's no problem. And since those relatives were illegally here, back to the border they go!

Flores, who speaks little English. A citizen of the US for 13 years and you speak little English?

The typical M.O. that is dictated by the various police departments is to turn a blind eye. The Milwaukee police department has had the policy of simply telling the illegal to turn themselves in the next day, and then simply drive off has been the policy for years.

"A citizen of the US for 13 years and you speak little English?" BWwaahahHa!
Have you been to Miami lately? Chicago, N.Y.C., ALL of Californion, Dallas, or any city larger than a breadbox lately?
Go into a McDonald's in ANY STATE west of Oklahoma.
What language(s) are on the menus?

Actually, I do have a small problem with this: if the suspects were two males, why were the wife and aunt (presumably female) being asked for identification at all?
To: Defiant
"The only reason he called Border Patrol is because they are a suspect of a crime," Tellez said. "We would never have had anything to do with those people unless the store said they were involved." There are other crimes in this country besides shoplifting.
Being an illegal immigrant is one of them.
