Agreed,
I'd rather an evacuation based on a blip, than to keep everyone in place while thinking it's just a blip and have it turn out later to be something worse.
Better safe than sorry these days.

Then all the Bush-haters who say he is "after oil", etc., and that "he's no conservative" would go back to liking him.
Quite. :-)

Check out Sue Thomas FBI Sunday night; they have a two part episode about terrorists using Ultralight Aircraft to spread a virus over D.C. First episode was last week.

Could that have been a gremlin? The audio clip left out my favorite part of that bit:
IT AIN'T WENDELL WILKIE!!

One classic response to great trauma, disaster, terror . . .
IS
DENIAL.
The other IS
that
ALL IS HOPELESS.
Neither are particularly functional
in terms of protectiveness, overcoming, redemptiveness, restoration, advancement, resilience.
The road goes ever, ever on.
But if err we can return to the Shire, it will NOT be the same.

It seems that on one side of the asile,
the HYPORATS are tooooooo
brain dead or brain absent
to know when to quake in their boots.
I think some of them would rape Mary the Mother of Jesus and claim it was 'for the children.'

Shumann said flocks of birds or atmospheric disturbances can cause false radar returns. "It's one of those electronic gremlins that pops up, but there was no aircraft there."
Secret Service spokeswoman Jean Mitchell said there was no official evacuation. But White House staff members did leave the West Wing for a time Thursday morning.
This is a really funny explanation since the radio guy Tom Bowerley (sp?) I am listening to at WBEN in Buffalo, New York right now.
First mentioned was the requisite "ISLAM-IS-A-RELIGION-OF-PEACE-AND-THIS-IS-NOT-A-TERRORIST-ATTACK" (TM)
Then spokesthingies for the the government claimed 'an aircraft strayed into Whitehouse space'.
Hoookay....
Now its being reported that the Secret Service were out in full combat gear with QUOTE full autos and NERVOUSLY LOOKING SKYWARDS. UNQUOTE
Now we have birds.
Funny, huh ?
Nothing to see here folks...jus' move along.

Isn't it part of getting a license to be able to read the aircraft maps?

Can you imagine the decision to shoot down and incoming plane? Can you imagine a pilot's reaction to looking in the rear view mirror and seeing a couple of F-16s back there? That plane would be due for a major clean-up and airing out!
To: RedBloodedAmerican
Ack! So, is he sleeping outside tonight?Nah...can't really blame him, even the cat-poop-eating dog desperately wanted outside to get fresh air, LOL!
To: eastforker
If this was ever a threat would they ever realy have time to evacuate or scamble a fighter?Probably not. They do constantly have SS agents on the roof with shoulder lauched Surface to Air Missiles but that would probably be too little too late. Navy ships have a system to destroy incoming missiles (Aegis ?) I 'spect the White House might have a similar system.

My black lab does the same thing. Why?

I love how conspiracy nutters that don't know anything about the subject they're posting about make sarcastic remarks and think they look cool doing so.

Was FAT TED, the esteemed senator, seen driving in the vicinity again?
To: Dog
Would the combination of what . . .
70?
small planes having been stolen . . . some reportedly by men of Middle Eastern appearance
. . .
and
the entry of one in the area's airspace
. . .
be sufficient or would there need to be some sort of intel also racheting up the threat level?
