Only compare them to see if they are compatible.

Democrats and Republicans are not compatible. They both believe in the same nation though. For the outsider, it is hard to fathom the difference between the Muslim God and the Jewish God and the Christian God and the Hindu God etc ad infinitum.

If so, no argument with the statement; just their illusion.

But as I say, what's disheartening is that interaction with the statement on its face (which is indisputably untrue) is so often so ignorant, in our deep cultural commitment to pan-everythingism. To say nothing of the fact that so many are apparently incapable of discussing it honestly and rationally.

Islam and Christianity are the same like Michael Jackson and Clarence Thomas are the same.

In other words, not.

God can only be known through his words. When you pray to God you identify him by his message. I would argue that Muslims do not know the god of Christ and therefore do not worship him.

Will he have mercy on them for not understanding the message? I guess that depends on who you ask.

I don't think the President thinks so too... I think he is just trying to avoid turning the battle into a Crusades, which to the Muslim mindset happened only yesterday.

I am further intrigued when atheists/pagans seem indifferent to Islam. I assume they don't know that THEY are the infidels that the Muslims so gleefully talk of eradicating.

Don't take anyone's word for it. Go and see for yourself. Maybe there's really 720.

To lump all monotheistic religions into one bucket is to also say that Baál worship is just a valid variation of Judaism.

The fusionists will tell you that Baal means Lord, so you need to bend your knee before him.

"But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal." (Rom:11:4)

"Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him." (1Kgs:19:18)

Then he should say that. "No, of course they don't worship the same God; but in America we have always historically accepted that religious differences are not calls to warfare. Only if a religion causes its adherence to wage war against America can it become an issue; and even then, it isn't the religion, but the war, to which we must as a nation respond."

See?

No hard words there!

"Sad commentary on the intellectual life of our nation and forum — to say nothing of the spiritual health — that it isn't a "DUH!" that Moslems and Biblical Christians do not worship the same God."

Well did the apostle say of these people, "Their hearts are hard and their minds are dark."

People. If we all worship the same God, then what would it mean to worship a 'false' god? Clearly the Bible condems people for worshiping false gods. But if we are all worshiping the same god then the phrase 'false god' would have no meaning. There are no false gods. Is that what so many of you really believe? All gods are the true god?

Or alternately, he could say, "I wasn't elected Theologian In Chief [-- and thank God for that!], so I'll leave that to others to discuss. I'll only say that..." -- and then what I said, above.

The President of the United States of America cannot get into a huge religious debate.

If what 'W' actually made the claim that this thread suggests, then 'W' clearly is not a Christian and he has indeed made a presidential statement condemning the Bible as fiction. That seems rather "huge".

Besides how will we get Muslims to turn in their fellow Islamic terrorists, if we constantly berate their religion? We must have intell to win.

What does it profit a man to win the whole world but to lose his soul? To lie to a Muslim about the God of Creation and let the pagan worship his idol, Allah, is the same as saying you want the Muslim to spend eternity in Hell.

He is, in a sense, trying to de-program, those who might be reasonable

NO, it would seem that Bush is one of the most stupid presidents in terms of religion. To say that Muslims, Jews and Christians are all worshipping the same God totally ignores the fact that Muslims hate Jews and Christians because they are "infidels". It also calls into question 'W's faith since Jesus Christ plainly stated that Christ is the only way to salvation - all other routes result in damnation. By George saying that he doesn't agree with this indicates to us that he reprobate.

"As someone raised Catholic, I always believed that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. I still do."

Err, no offense meant buddy, but the Catholic church I was raised in still has us profess the Nicene Creed every Sunday. Has it been a while since you've professed it?
"One God" "One baptism" "We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ","one holy catholic and apostolic church".

Does not seem to leave much doubt now does it?

The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Good. How do you know it? You made yourself familiar with the positions of both parties.

So do your homework about Islam too.

I assume you have never read it then. The Bible talks about God. It does not prove God because you cannot prove God to someone who doesn't wish to see Him

You would assume wrong then. I was raised as a Christian. Baptised. I was probably one of the most paranoid Christian children in history. I prayed dozens of times a day. I prayed mightily every night for God not to strike me down in my sleep for sins that I might have committed unawares during the day. Sometimes I just couldn't get to sleep at all because I was worried God might still my heart while I slept and send me to Hell. I assumed He was watching me every single second. If I knowingly sinned, I dropped to my knees that instant and begged for forgiveness. God was not an abstract for me. He was real. He was taking a personal notice in everything I did. I took it as a matter of course that he would kill me or send me to hell if I so much as said the word "Heck".

Never assume too much.

I have studied the Bible. But after long and careful consideration, I have concluded that it demonstrates the existence of no deity. And I really, really wish it did. I would much prefer a universe with a deity than one without.

Then he shouldn't have said it at all if he doesn't believe they are the same. To do so in public at his level of leadership would be a severe offense in God's eyes: NO 1 - "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

Basically he is forsaking God publicly if he does not believe what he actually said. I hope he does actually believe they are the same god, for his souls sake.

LOL, but even if I were apolitical, there would still be a nation. I was born in it. I can stand on it and touch it. It has nothing to do with the two parties and everything to do with the concept they both reference.

I am further intrigued when atheists/pagans seem indifferent to Islam.

At least Christians and Jews are to be spared in exchange for accepting the servitude. Atheists and pagans are subject to the worse fate under Muslim "tolerant" rule. He, he.

Do your homework guys. Read Koran!
