SACRAMENTO (AP) - Senate leader John Burton charged Tuesday that attempts to overturn a new law allowing undocumented immigrants to obtain drivers' licenses were being fueled by racism, but he stopped short of saying that was Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's motivation. "I say the issue is racism," the San Francisco Democrat told reporters. Let's see: They've driven down wages for American workers; they've driven up rental prices for housing; they've crowded our emergency rooms by using them as their primary care physician; they've crowded our public schools and created larger class sizes; they've sucked up social services such as welfare, food stamps, and WIC; they've introduced street gangs and drug dealing to many cities that have never before had these problems; they've brought diseases that used to be pretty rare here in this country; etc, etc, etc.
Instead of spreading lies that somehow giving the immigrants licenses is a danger to US security in the wake of the 9-11 terrorist attacks

I wish that these illegal aliens had gone through the same immigration process that all of the legal immigrants had to go through.

Well, since illegal immigration is contributing to California's budget crisis, by not handing out more inducements for illegal aliens to come here (such as driver's licenses), hopefully California will be able to get it's budget crisis resolved in the forseeable future.

On the subject of illegal immigration, I may not totally agree with your viewpoints on the subject, but I do respect your opinion. I don't know what the solution to the illegal immigration problem should be, but whatever we do to solve the problem, I doubt if anybody is going to be completely happy with how we resolve it. I just hope that whatever is decided upon to deal with the illegal immigration problem, it works out best for the United States in the long run.
