SACRAMENTO (AP) - Senate leader John Burton charged Tuesday that attempts to overturn a new law allowing undocumented immigrants to obtain drivers' licenses were being fueled by racism, but he stopped short of saying that was Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's motivation. "I say the issue is racism," the San Francisco Democrat told reporters. "Do you think if these people were white and not brown skinned we would be talking about it? I don't.

Good, I don't won't to be anything like you

How do you know?

Ref. post #58. I know you a liar, a bigot, and a name-caller.

I happen to think you would like to get this thread pulled because it makes you uncomfortable that people have caught on to this illegal immigration scam the elites have going in this country so your idea is to throw gasoline on a fire to incite more name-calling and even threats. If this were to happen you could then give the moderator a call and have the thread pulled.

This is just my opinion but seen it happen before.

"Besides being the most accepted form of ID for opening bank accounts, cashing checks, renting cars, equipment, and etc.,"

... so they don't want it for driving...

"I believe there's a limit on how long a Mexican National can drive here with a Mexican drivers license."

... psst - they are here ILLEGALLY anyway ...

I don'nt believe they're accepted for employment if driving a company vehicle may involved either...good question though!

... and they are not supposed to be able to get a job anyway....

So at least you are admitting that it has nothing to do with driving, simply a way to make it easier to keep breaking our laws.

"Arnold a pass for accomplishing and doing virtually nothing.."

Gee, Arnolds been in office 4 days... How long has Tom been collecting a government paycheck ?

... and AGAIN CRA's site NEVER mentions Tom... Why ?
( If I recall, Tom was saying he was going to make an announcement about a referendum on a Monday, but CRA's site went up and all the publicity started without him on the weekend - I suspect he is not too happy with them and he is off pouting somewhere. )

"...including saying HE MIGHT SUPPORT LICENSES FOR ILLEGALS NEXT YEAR..."

No - It is said he is "willing to consider" it - as a good Governor he MUST consider EVERY law that crosses his desk. This is much different then "supporting" it, as you well know.

Yes, they're illegals and yes they want jobs, but we both already knew that...and who said it has nothing to do with driving? Or do you just choose to ignore that part? (second paragraph in your post to me)

I thought you wanted to have an intellegent discussion on the pros and cons of giving the ones that are already here drivers license...

I guess I misunderstood you...

It has nothing to do with driving as they are allready driving - Not having a CA license is not stopping them from driving.

The Cons are all the other benefits that you have stated that come along with a license, just what are the Pros to legitimate society in allowing people who are allready breaking our laws to have these benefits ?

How about this headline:

CALIFORNIA SENATE LEADER'S EFFORT TO KILL ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS RATHER THAN GIVE THEM DRIVERS' LICENSES IS RACIST.

With out a valid California drivers license you can't get insurance. With out insurance you can't register your car....

You're just really determined to make a much bigger issue of this than it really is...

The biggest argument against this is possibility of terrorist sneaking in...and I say racially profile all middle eastern muslim men.

We all know that giving the right to obtain a CA license would be of great benefit to a large segment of our criminal population.

Can you give me any reasons why the non-criminal segment of our society should endow them with this gift that would allow them more freedom to further their criminal activities ?

Can you give me any reason why Insurance companies should write car insurance on vehicles that will be used to enable criminal activities ?

BTW - I have no problem whatsoever with the Identification cards that are issued by the Mexican consulate.

You mean criminal activities like bussing tables, serving Jumbo Jacks, cleaning hotel rooms, super-sizing your order at McDonalds, mowing your lawn, taking care of sick or dying Grandma.....

Have you ever been to Southern California? We have a work force here that will do the work white people, or teen age kids won't do. Not for the wages they pay. If they paid the wages white kids will work for, you'll be paying about $10.00 for a Big Mac!

All the way down to the tomatoes they pick for your salsa at Taco Bell, to the hotels you'd stay in. Everything would become a lot more expensive if it wasn't for low wage workers, (ILLEGAL ALIENS)
