US Constitutiona Amendment to Save Marriage...NOW!
Self | 11-18-03 | Always Right

Posted on 11/18/2003 7:28:05 AM PST by Always Right

Now that the Mass. Supreme Court has acted to force the legislature to adopt gay marriage, the time is now for Republicans to act to save this most basic institution of this country. We need a US Constitutional Amendment to save us from activist courts who assult religion and basic family values. The public will be outraged over this and the GOP must capitolize on it. The GOP must put the Democrats in a bind. Oppose the Amendment and lose their base, or support it and expose themselves as the radicals they are.

Now is the time to act. Put this issue at the forefront for the next election. Don't just make it an issue, make it a real topic with real Amendments that are gonna be passed.

Marriage is not a federal matter.

No, but with all the minions on the left hell bent (literally) on trying to destroy our prosperous society from within, it does need an ammendment to confirm it. It's the only way to send the liberal freaks back into their caves. Reafferm what is life supporting, and just move on past it.
Heck, I'm all for outlawing homosexuality again. I hope it's in the subconscience plans for the future. It's a health hazard - worse than tobacco.

You can use a search engine to check it out , can't you? You liberals always expect everyone else to clean up your disasters for you. Move your own hands away from you genitals once in a while. Do something productive instead of slothing and spreading disease.

Constitutionally, we do owe it to our founding fathers to utilize the remedies they left for us before we go tinkering with the patchwork of another constitutional amendment.

I don't deny either that the goal is worthy, or that it's likely that the anthill people will likely try to subvert or twist what's left of the Constitution to achieve their goals, then cast it aside, and that so far as pragmatism goes, an amendment might be the better choice.

But if we do not have the political muscle to use those constitutional remedies specified, then we likely won't manage an amendment either.

You see, liberals are incrementalists. first this queer recognition crap then lowering the age of consent, queer adoption

Yet again, you prove yourself uniformed. Gays can already adopt kids, and do. (No, the world hasn't exploded)

You have filled this thread with post after post of misconceptions, rhetoric and unsubstantiated claims. Any objective reader can see this.

You need to get a grip.

WOW! Only 46% accept civil union!
65% strongly oppose gay marrage. That's an election winner right there!
The gay issue is a huge winner for us!

A constitutional amendment is the only way around this idiots,

Incorrect.

Concur. Those who've read the constitution should understand.

Neither approach may be successful; those involved are not inclined to be swayed by constitutional niceties or the strength of law. But the alternative following those choices will of a necessity be messy and brutal.

What, more excuses?

Is it not standard practice to substantiate your own claims? Why are you passing the buck off to me? And having the cheek to claim I am slothful for not researching your own asinine claims...

You should stick to something you're good at, like trading Pokemon cards.

My goodness, you have nailed the issue. At what point do we throw out these robed tyrants. That would sell our culture down the river.

I have yet to be convinced that civil recognition of some form of legal partnership for homosexuals will have any real impact on heterosexual marriage. -Snidely Whiplash

It redefines the role and definition of mother/father. It opens the door to a whole host of other ills ... -richtig_faust

Polls show Americans are opposed to any civil recognition of any marriage-like partnership that is not one woman and one man. As am I.

However, it appears the debate is not going well. Folks like Andrew Sullivan hold their own pretty well against the likes of NR's Stanley Kurtz.

The only remedy I see outside a Constitutional Amendment is to purge the courts of the activists judges. You can write all the good laws you want, but if judges just strike them down because of their arbitary agenda, what can you do. I wish impeachment/removal was a realistic option. The only solution I see is a Constitutional Amendment, and I do think there is enough support and political muscle to pull it off.

I am all for throwing the tyrants out. How do we do that? We can start with these in Mass, move to the Florida Supremes, then on to the Ninth circus, and come back to the New Jersey Supreme Court. That would be a good start.

Hehe, folks, what you call for the US constitution - we already have. Marriage and family are protected by the Basic Law here. Though, gays and lesbians may form a "partnership for life" at a local authority, and they´re equal in taxes etc to married people. But at least, they can´t call it "wedding" or "marriage".

The court in Mass. did not see it that way. They found gays were unfairly left out of the marriage definition.

I predict a damaging backlash if social conservatives come down hard on homosexuality.

Message: live and let live. That doesn't mean accepting any agenda.
