Destroying the concept of 'race' as a societal boundary would be a great accomplishment..

Here's a question that they seem to have avoided:
Q: Is there any scientific reason why race could not exist?
A: Not if the theory of evolution is correct.... How else would one explain the development of new species?
And here's the telling point: the word "evolution" does not appear in the article -- not even once.
For all of the yammering about this and that gene sequence, I find it quite odd that they never once mention it.

This has been the Biblical position for 4000 years. Nice to see science getting on board!

Destroying the concept of 'race' as a societal boundary would be a great accomplishment.. Don't get too excited, liberals will just move on to using sexuality to divide society.

Perhaps watching reruns of Victoria Secret and Miss Applebottoms to appreciate the wonderful diversity of humanity

Destroying the concept of 'race' as a societal boundary would be a great accomplishment..
And that accomplishment will be resisted by those who attempt to gain political power and personal gain by appealing to race. (Does Jesse Jackson come to mind?)

Jesse would be bankrupt if he had to compete in the same category as the rest of the nation instead of pandering to minorities. He reminds me of Huey 'The Kingfish' Long. A long history of pointless, populist demagougery aimed at self-enrichment.

This article doesn't do any such thing. In fact, a careful reading of the article reinforces the fact that the species "homo sapiens" has had and continues to have several genetic subspecies (i.e., races). Like any other species, our differences evolved due to geographic isolation of populations. Some, such as Neanderthal, have become extinct. Others still exist and do fall broadly into the classical races most of us were taught in childhood: East Asian, European (including Mediterranean, North African and near (mid) East peoples), African south of the Sahara, Native American, Polynesian, and the Australian Aborigines. In areas where these broad groups met and mixed, there is a blend of genetic characteristics: Central Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the Americas after European colonization, and so on.
