Yes, he said it quite clearly that he was using for "recreational" purposes. I feel much better about his chance to get well. He stood up like a man and took resposibility. He didn't mince words or get gory. He was grounded, blunt, and to the point. He will fall off his pink cloud pretty soon and then he will start to recover.
Also something to think about. The narcotic addicts mind makes every pain seem worse than it is while using. After he quits the brain takes a while to balance the chemicals out. Before it does everything DOES hurt worse than it is in reality for a normal person. It is not in their imagination, IT IS REAL. He will make it through it as long as he perseveres. He cannot do this on will alone. His will got him where he was and he said that. Good sign!

How little you know.
Like a cancer patient, this started with pain. He then slipped into doing more pills for that problem since he liked the direction of his pain management and his tolerance to the pills grew.
This is far different than a person who recreationally might self medicate in the name of the Constitution...

I hope you are right. Interesting that he has not yet leaped into this Dem "memogate" thing the way Hannity did.

I don't think so originally at all, but as it progressed I'm sure the pills and addiction were hard to resist.

The first time most people take narcotics it is with a doctors prescription. Many like Rush, later become dope addicts. Anybody who can't clearly see the lie that narcotics represent is in danger with them. Very few people dislike them (at least the first day or two of use!) I thank God I can see their lie. When I am prescribed them I can take them. With alcohol and it is a different story for me. I can't stop drinking once I start. I realize that my will with alcohol is futile. My will got me to the point I destroyed my life. Since October 12, 1984 I have not had to take a drink (or illicit drug) by the grace of God.

Glad you are still thinking about this. That's the best way to discover the truth for yourself. Have you tried praying about it?

Unfortunately, the doctors are not much help. I have managed to stay at the same dosage for a little over two years. The brain tries to fool you into thinking you need more. It is a constant battle to keep a small addiction from becoming a large problem.
So far, so good.

Glad you are still thinking about this. Actually, I was away from FR, and when I came back your reply to me was on my "My Comments" page.
Have you tried praying about it?
My prayer life is quite healthy, thank you.
I'll be honest with you. Your attitude strikes me as being judgmental and lacking in compassion.
Now, do you have any answers to my questions?

I understand that. My point is that something about this is really sticking with you, even days after the original post.
Have you prayed about it?

Everyone else has left this thread and you are still shadowboxing with your own darkness.
Go pray.

Nope, I've been shadowboxing with someone who won't answer a few simple questions.
As to why I returned to the thread, I already told you. You posted a reply to me.
Shalom.
