There are now, and have always been, two competing philosophies about what the Believers should do with respect to the world. One belief is that the world is too corrupt, and Believers should withdraw from it and leave its affairs alone. The other is that Believers should engage with the world, bear witness each in his own way, and seek to transform the world.
As between those two beliefs, both of which have a valid scriptural basis, I choose the latter.

It is one thing to engage with the world (I agree, by the way) and quite another to acquire power over it. It is then that the believer most needs to recall Who is the originator of all authority--recall it and submit to Him.
