Moscow, Nov. 16. (UNI): Afghan Interior Minister Ali Ahmad Jalali has said that international terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden and Taliban leader Mullah Omar are hiding in the north-western province of Pakistan.
"They are most likely hiding in Pakistan's north-western province bordering Afghanistan," Jalali told RIA Novosti news agency at the end of his three-day visit to Moscow.
"This is a mountainous area inhabited mainly by the Pushtu, which enjoys a great deal of autonomy and independence in domestic affairs. These mountains are harbouring many of the al-Qaeda supporters and Talibans," he said.
Jalali, who held wide-ranging talks with Russian Interior Minister, Boris Gryzlov, said the "ways to step up cooperation between the two countries' security agencies topped the agenda of his parleys with top-level officials of the Russian Interior Ministry, the Federal Security Service (FSB), the State Committee For Fighting Drug Trafficking and the Foreign Ministry."
The sides reached an agreement that a team of experts of Afghan security agencies would soon visit Russia to discuss joint plans of action against drug trafficking, illegal migration and international terrorism, the Afghan Interior Minister said.
He said that extremists' attempts to thwart the internationally supported reforms in Afghanistan were doomed to failure.
"The Afghan people have got tired of war. It is, therefore, not surprising that Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, a leader of the extremist Pushtu Islamic party of Afghanistan, who had until recently been in exile in Iran, has declared jihad against the Karzai government and the USA, but found no support among Afghans," Jalali pointed out.

It's tough to muster a jihad when potential jihadists have been givien front seat views of jihadists turning in to red mist in the blink of an eye. There are a finite number of whackjobs in all socieities, the whackjob number in jihad land is being streadily reduced.

but found no support among Afghans," Jalali pointed out. Good. They're figuring out Americans aren't the bad guys after all.

The Afghanis NEVER likes the Arabs.
Remember, it was the USA that helped the Afghans kick out the USSR. Then you hear people saying "we helped them, we created them, and they turned on us."
BULLSH*T. How many Afghanis participated in the 9-11 attacks? How many Afghanis have participated in ANY terrorist attacks on the US?

It won't happen. Pakistan is a nuclear power.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we could go get them at any time. We seem to have them in a narrow box, from all the reports.
The only reason I can see to keep em alive is to watch them, figure out their actions, monitor their contacts & communications etc. round up their henchmen week by week.
I secretly suspect that we have been shreding this web for the past two years with a great deal of success, though we will never hear of the guys who did it and saved a lot of American lives...
And when we are ready we will get em. At a time and place of our choosing. ( I kinda hope its the middle of November 2004, just for the fun of watching the left implode....hehe)

I'd rather it be the middle of October 2004, so Bush gets reelected. Then again I heard a conspiracy theory that says we know where he and Sadddam are but we're waiting till right before the election so Bush wins.

FOX NEWS LIVEAlso had on ANOTHER guest that DOUBTED what IJAZ said about UBL. Of course he also said that WE ARE UNILATERALISTS and that is why the REST of the world HATES US. I am beginning to get tired of the only network that I watch... FOX NEWS. It seems that everytime I turn on FNC they are either covering KOBE or LACY or have someone on badmouthing the POTUS, SECDEF, our military, the "QUAGMIRE" or our exit strategy.
First we had no war plan, then we couldn't stop looters, then we were going to be there FOREVER because there was no peace PLAN and NOW we are leaving to soon!!!

I can't picture Saddam hiding away or moving around in Afghanistan. He is psuedo-sophisticated and loved the good life too much to flee to goat and rock country.
I can see Iran, Syria or Lebanon, even Chirac's attic room, but Afghanistan?.....hardly.

Oops, meant to say Pakistan, not Afghanistan. Same difference, though.
Had too much goat milk in my coffee tonight.

IJAZ is a Pakistani Lobbyist. See the page below for more information:
http://www.pakistan-facts.com/staticpages/index.php/20021121114844805 Those that think that we are effectively winning the war on terrorism by using Pakistan as a frontline ("Frontlyin'"?) ally, must ask what is the metric for success in this venture?
1. Key Taliban personnel move around and give interviews with impunity in large Pakistani Cities.
2. Al Qaeda continues to have a free run in Pakistan. Pakistani border guards, who are supposed to prevent Taliban/Al Qaeda from crossing into Afghanistan actually provide cover-fire to infiltrate them.
3. Pakistan continues to aid the North Korean effort.
4. Iran just revealed Pakistan's aid in their nuke program
5. Saudi and Pak conclude a nuke-treaty where Pakistani nukes are to be based on Saudi soil and Saudi missiles (who are the Saudi's building a deterrent against? - regime change by the US?)
And all of this in the last year, *after* Pakistan became a front-lyin' al-lie in the war on terror. What is the State Department afraid of?
