In my POV, Eden existed before Adam, and the garden's features were already in place before man was put there. It doesn't seem to read that way sequentially, but I guess it is possible. The Tree of Life being in heaven in the Book of Revelation does lend you some credibility. I am undecided and listening.

The remainder of the chapter isn't a sequence of events; it is more like a summary of important events. The rivers, the making of Eve; none appear to be meant as a record of chronological events.
