Today’s outcome “depends highly on the African-American turnout,” [Pollster Verne] Kennedy said. “If it’s 27 percent or higher, Blanco wins. If it’s 25 percent or lower, Jindal wins. At 26 percent, it’s very, very close.”

“If African-Americans vote like they did in the primary, it’s a 50-50 race,” he said.

The Advertiser - Poll: Election "Extremely Close"

As of this day of the election, the polls are so close and conflicting that they matter little. This election will be won on the streets. This election will be decided by the average Louisiana voter making it a personal mission to make certain their neighbors, relatives, and friends vote.

During his 22-minute jet ride to Shreveport, Jindal explains how he is going without sleep. “It’s these crowds. I draw strength from them,” he said, talking about the morning poll numbers showing it is close and could turn on turnout.

At noon, a crowd of about 100 awaits Jindal at the Shreveport Downtown Airport. The Rev. Billy McCormack, 75, a key Christian Coalition leader who was with Jindal early and will be with him in New Orleans tonight, is confident. “I had every confidence from the very beginning,” McCormack says. At his University Baptist Church’s prep school commencement in May 2002, “I introduced him as the next governor of Louisiana,” McCormack says, claiming that he influenced Gov. Mike Foster to back Jindal.

I think voting on the weekend is an excellent idea. Wish it was also done elsewhere.

Ya know, I get no pings, it's hidden way down in my thread list among "announcements" -- I don't think I'm going to visit it. I'm bitter.

But mostly embarassed!
