It is difficult to compare photos of today's incredibly bulked-up Bonds with the slim athlete of his Pittsburgh Pirates years and not suspect that he has been taking steroids.

Don't be surprised if Bonds has been taking these "supplements" regularly during his workouts. Bonds get stronger, hits more homeruns, trainer makes more $$$. The same kind of stuff that Mark McGuire admitted to taking because it aided in his "workouts". The two most notorious hitters of our time, folks.

Bonds (and probably McGuire) should have their records rescinded.

I gained 50 lbs of muscle between the ages of 22 and 42. Never took steroids but why should they be illegal when folks can pay a doctor to stuff saline & suction fat?

While it's possible to gain lots of muscle without steroids, a look at Bonds' bulging body, and the fact that he has had his most productive years in his late 30s, makes me and many others suspicious.

Add in the fact that his trainer is a target of the steroids grand jury investigation, and I think there's every reason to think Bonds has been on the "juice."

As for McGwire, he admitted to taken andro, which was not banned. I'd like to hope he hasn't taken steriods.

I'd be shocked .....shocked I tell you .....if it turns out that Bonds has been using steroids. (Or, in the langauge of athletes, "nutrional supplements"). I mean, don't all ballplayers peak in their late 30's? Don't they all have heads the size of beachballs? Don't they all put on 50 lbs of pure muscle in two short years?

LOL

If Bonds is busted on this, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Of course under the incredibly weak MLB rules just put into effect, he would receive nothing but the mildest of taps in the general area of his wrist.

Yep, Bud Selig is undoubtedly the weakest commissioner in the history of the game, and is not likely to taken any strong action in this case.

I too would love to see Bonds busted. Perhaps it would shut the mouths of those who claim that he's a superior ballplayer to the likes of Babe Ruth and Ted Williams. Fact is, he's not even in the same ballpark. ......even with the 'roids.

Let's be clear here. Bonds wasn't associated with this guy until AFTER he had his record setting HR season.

Now does this mean that Bonds is clean? No. But this is all misleading.

How do I know that Ruth didn't take steroids, you ask? Well, the first use of anabolic-androgenic steroids was reported to have occurred in the 1950s among weightlifters and bodybuilders, and wasn't introduced into baseball until the 1970's (when very few players used them). Unless hot dogs and beer have natural steroids in them, Ruth was clean.

LOL.....nice graceful way to lose an argument there, buddy. Perhaps next time you should only open your mouth when you know what the hell you're talking about. But then again, that would confine you to being just a lurker, wouldn't it?

IT'S TIME TO ERASE THE HOME RUN RECORDS SET BY BONDS, MCGUIRE AND SOSA. THE ONLY THING BABE RUTH WAS ON WAS BOURBON. REMOVE THESE DRUGGED-UP DISGRACES FROM THE RECORD BOOKS.

FYI......And here's the link

Enter Anabolic Steroids

The use of anabolic steroids by athletes is relatively new. Testosterone was first synthesized in the 1930's and was introduced into the sporting arena in the 1940's and 1950's.

When the Russian weight lifting team thanks, in part, to synthetic testosterone-walked off with a pile of medals at the 1952 Olympics, an American physician determined that U. S. competitors should have the same advantage.

By 1958 a U.S. pharmaceutical firm had developed anabolic steroids. Although the physician soon realized the drug had unwanted side effects, it was too late to halt its spread into the sports world.

Early users were mainly bodybuilders, weight lifters, football players, and discus, shot put, or javelin throwers-competitors who relied heavily on bulk and strength.

During the 1970's demand grew as athletes in other sports sought the competitive edge that anabolic steroids seemed to provide.

By the 1980's, as non athletes also discovered the body-enhancing properties of steroids, a black market began to flourish for the illegal production and sale of the drugs for nonmedical purposes.
