Germany is planning to build a memorial to commemorate the thousands of homosexuals persecuted under the Nazis. The memorial should complement a monument to the six million Jews who died in the Holocaust.
"Homosexual victims of Nazism have been given too little attention in the past in Germany's culture of remembrance," said a government statement.
The monument, planned for Berlin, will serve as a warning against the discrimination of gays and lesbians.
Despite passing the Lower House culture committee, the project to build the gay victims memorial is still opposed by the conservative opposition Christian Democrats.
Pink triangle
The Nazi persecution of gays began in 1935, when all male homosexual activity was declared a crime.
Gay clubs were raided, and homosexuals were forced to wear a pink triangle.
An estimated 10,000 to 15,000 of them were deported to concentration camps, where most of them died. Fifty thousand more were convicted as criminals.
In the concentration camp of Sachsenhausen, near Berlin, living conditions for homosexuals were particularly harsh. Many were castrated or sterilised - their sexual orientation was seen as a threat to the purity of the Arian race.
The Austrian Heinz Heger, who joined the camp in 1939, wrote: "Jews, gays and gypsies were the inmates who were most often abused and beaten by SS police and Kapos.
"They were called the scum of society, who did not have the right to live on German soil, and therefore had to be exterminated.
"But the last scum of this scum, that was us, the men with the pink triangle."
The discrimination law against gays, paragraph 175 of the penal code, remained in force until 1957 in Eastern Germany and 1969 in Western Germany - a fact that prevented many from coming forward when WWII ended.
A formal pardon for homosexuals convicted under the Nazis was issued by the German parliament only last year.

I bet these range-rump-rover lovers will never mention the fact that about 4 million Christians were killed by the Nazis, to go along with the 6 million Jews. Another purposely-forgotten fact is that the leadership of Hitler's SA (the Brownshirts) was 90% fag. Not to mention the thousands of gay Brownshirts.

Reviewers Praise The Pink Swastika
http://www.pinkswastika.com/ The Pink Swastika: Homosexuality in the Nazi Party is a thoroughly researched, eminently readable, demolition of the gay myth, symbolized by the pink triangle, that the Nazis were anti-homosexual. The deep roots of homosexuality in the Nazi party are brilliantly exposed . . .
Dr. Howard Hurwitz, Family Defense Council
As a Jewish scholar who lost hundreds of her family in the Holocaust, I welcome The Pink Swastika as courageous and timely . . . Lively and Abrams reveal the reigning gay history as revisionist and expose the supermale German homosexuals for what they were - Nazi brutes, not Nazi victims.
Dr. Judith Reisman, Institute for Media Education
The Pink Swastika is a tremendously valuable book, replete with impressive documentation presented in a compelling fashion. William Grigg, The New American
...exposes numerous lies, and tears away many myths. Essential reading, it is a formidable boulder cast into the path of the onrushing homosexual express...
Stan Goodenough, Middle East Intelligence Digest
The Pink Swastika is a powerful exposure of pre-World War II Germany and its quest for reviving and imitating a Hellenistic-paganistic idea of homo-eroticism and militarism.
Dr. Mordechai Nisan, Hebrew University of Jerusalem
Lively and Abrams call attention to what Hitlerism really stood for, abortion, euthanasia, hatred of Jews, and, very emphatically, homosexuality. This many of us knew in the 1930s; it was common knowledge, but now it is denied...

For the rest of time the offspring of Jewish and Christian Nazi victims and those who survived will be visiting the memorials and concentration camps. How many of the homosexuals offspring will be among them?

So what we're saying is, it never went away. It was a prison rape mentality i.e. the one being penetrated is the homo, not the dominant one. I think.
I was wondering about those boys on the football team in NY that were busted for sodomizing the younger kids with a broomstick. Did they consider themselves sodomites? Bet they didn't. Bet they would say it was the stick that did the sodomy, not them.
Also: 6,000,000 / 50,000 = 120. Does that mean the faggots memorial is going to be 1/20th the size of the Shoah memorial?
It's not that I want to put anybody down, but so many people don't see the fire we're playing with when we encourage homosexuals. No pun intended.

The sad thing is that those who speak against homosexuality are the ones who actually care. Those who say, "Do what you want" are the ones voting for the disease and death that is the fate of sodomites.

Here are 3 Nazi gays, Goerring (left), Himmler (second from right) and Hitler himself.
The Nazis only persecuted the homosexuals they didn't like.

I wonder when Germany will build a memorial to all the Christians who were killed by the Nazis. I wonder when they will build a memorial to all the handicapped individuals victimized by the Nazis.

Some of the responses on this thread are pretty repulsive. Regardless of the fact that some of the Nazi leadership was gay, its a historical fact that the Nazis did target homosexuals for extermination as well. To make light their murder just because they were gay is sickening.

When you are part of a dictatorship and you have your hands on the controls, you can pass as many laws as you want to use as tools to punish your enemies and to protect your friends.
The fact that the Nazis passed anti-homosexual laws meant nothing in-and-of-itself.
Nazi's pushed the Aryan procreation angle, but they could ignore homosexuals who were their allies.
One more thing. As with today - if you have any gay friends - the 'butch' gays have no love for the 'femme' gays. So the butch gays could be tributes to Aryan manhood and the femme's could be eliminated.

I agree. I am beginning to see more and more of these types of posts at Free Republic. I don't think it speaks well of us on this site.
There are an awful lot of personal attacks and name-calling that is really uncalled for.
The murders of any people is horrible. If people are upset that the Germans are not building a memporial to Christian victims then they should try to lobby for one...or take up a collection and build one themselves.

I don't claim to be an expert, but I do claim to have gay friends and I can tell you that my gay friends who are not "flamboyant" cant stand to be around gays who are.
At least not in public.
