The assault weapons ban is history as of next year.

It wont be re-authorized.

I hope you are right. I will oppose any politician who votes for its renewal or expansion. I will oppose any president who signs it.

That's a non-negotiable bottom line, Messrs. Bush, Wolf, Allen, Warner.

The best bet to do away with this abomination is in Congress, not GWB. We need to all hold our elected reps feet tot the fire.

"The assault weapons ban is history as of next year."

I agree. I think both parties would just as soon stay away from the RKBA, especially in post 9/11 America. And this will be even more the case if there's another terrorist attack on American soil.

And BTW, has it occured to the OBL crowd that another attack on the U.S. would probably sound the death knell of the democRATs? It may have already.

Why do you say that? How can you be that sure?

"It wont be re-authorized."

It's not a bad thing to let them know folks won't be happy if it is. Just in case.

I'm saving up my money on the outside chance that it isn't re-authorized. I plan to take advantage of the opportunity to stock up on high-capacity magazines again.

Promises, promises. I think this is day dreaming.

Time for Bush, Wolf, Allen, Warner and a few others to understand that voters do not live on promises. The thinking is all wrong and what they have been taught is going to be proven faulty.

A wise man put it this way: "Pro 13:12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but [when] the desire cometh, [it is] a tree of life."

Too much "heart sick" out there right now in the past GOP voters ranks. Surmise is beginning to be that the choice is between a "rattler" and a "cobra".

There is no present ban on assault weapons, just go to my local gun dealer and look at the dozens of assault weapons on his wall. This issue is total nonsense.
