University police received a call Wednesday telling them about the vandalism. The words "Bush dies 12-10-03" and "Iraq" were found painted on the Nittany Lion shrine, a stone statue that depicts the university's mascot, university police supervisor Bill Moerschbacher said.

Been searching, haven't found any serious link yet, although the USS Cole attack was on 10/12/00 and a Bin Laden video tape was found on 12/10/01 claiming credit for 9/11.

...police say the Secret Service on Wednesday began asking questions about the graffiti. If federal authorities were to pursue the matter, the author or authors of the graffiti could face charges of threats against the president, a federal crime punishable by fines and imprisonment up to five years."

My son was taking a course at State College and went to meet friends at a bar - wearing one of his military shirts - the Arabs in line starting insulting my son. He asked them if they were citizens of the US and they said no they were there on student visas but they were allowed to make their political concerns known. He blew them off, but he was amazed at their rudeness as guests in this country.

I remember this part of the legend from when I was a student in the early '70s.
But I don't recall anything about Mrs. JoePa having anything to do with it.

I remember that also, but I don't think it was Playboy.
I think it was the alternative campus "hippie" underground newspaper that was around in the late '60s early '70s.
