More than likely plead down to a misdemeanor...if this is a first offense.

I think this is just assessing whether Jon should be charged (answer is yes), I don't believe that this is the actual trial. The investigation just ended last week.

Maybe it is as simple as, he took a leak in his back yard & the neighbor kid told his mom. I hope so anyway.

If he's guilty of the offense, he should definitely try to get the trial moved to a Galveston court. The jurors there are way stupid.

I dunno about that, does your time in Houston go back to the show he hosted with a guy named Moby(70's)? Moby was all innuendo and trashy talk on his later solo show("Lady, please don't drown those poor puppies..."), so I'm not so sure about how morally virtuous his partner would have been.
Of course people can and do change over the course of a couple of decades. I hope the charges aren't true, but I'll withhold judgement until we read some evidence.

I think that the first 2 hours of the show are live. If the third hour were broadcast, it would conflict with the first hour of Rush's show (if Laura's show is live and not tape delayed).

If the grand jury came away with only one count, this ought to be easy to beat. It won't ever get his career back but I'm guessing no jail time will be involved If Jon is found not guilty, will he have a civil case against the accuser's parents?
...or is it that the state is bringing the charges and thus no recourse if found not guilty?

I remember in the early '80's Jon hosed a Sunday late night talk how on 97 Rock. Most callers were teenagers calling Jon for advise. There were kinds that called who had real problems, pregnancy, sexual abuse, physical abuse, drugs etc. It seemed Jon would go out of his way to help these kids and especially girls that were pregnant. I always respected him for helping those kids but now it feels a little creepy.
If found guilty, he is going to prison for quite some time. I don't imagine life in the big house is much fun for a conservative talk show host who molests kids.
Sad, really sad. I hope he did not do this and that it is a frame-up. If he did do it I hope he spends the rest of his days in a cage.
Sorry Jon, your days with Moby were great but if this is true you are no longer a conservative or a human.

Edd Hendee is the best, and far better than Jon ever was, but I don't think he has the time given his restaurant. Bettencourt is an elected official and while legal, I don't think he would take the time. Cunningham is wonderful and the smartest of the bunch but he has lots of other interests. I bet we get a new guy.

I trust NO ONE these days except my dogs and even they fib now and then, as they will pretent to "hear something" just to get my attention.
I listened to Jon for years and he was one of the first to rail against child abusers and proclaim no punishment was harsh enough...

I think that Jon may have also hosted a "community affairs" show on Sunday nights on the old 97 Rock. I know that someone did host such a program, I just don't know if it was Jon. That was much more level headed than the morning shock jock show. "Yeah, baby!"

...I remember
Moby! ...Class of '76
If I remember, the nickname suited him well.

Being seen taking a leak would not qualify as Indecency With a Child under the Texas penal code unless the prosecutor could somehow prove that Matthews did so in an effort to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of himself or the kid.
I doubt an indictment would ever be issued under that fact situation, and certainly not of a conservative celebrity of sorts in conservative Fort Bend County.

.he could have be peeing on the side of the house (Ya know how men are!).
He cannot be that stupid or lazy. At least I hope not. Tell that to Charlton heston.

..I'd rather listen to Laura Ingram than Bill O'reilly.
Rush will be back on-air Monday.

While I don't agree with trying to think up scenarios by which Jon Matthews was caught with his pants down but innocent, Clinton Defenders are still far far worse.
After all, they defended Bubba dropping his pants and saying "Blow Me". The only definition of "sex" that they would accept is genital to genital copulation. Funny how their defense wouldn't hold water if a minor was involved.

Tell that to Charlton heston (sic).
I don't know Mr. Heston well enough to call him so please enlighten me.
If Mr. Heston did this and was caught then it would also be a stupid and lazy act.
Other than that I am clueless as to your reference.
