In a column entitled ''No Longer Your Grandparents Democratic Party,'' (posted March 14, 2003 on ChronWatch.com) I wrote the following: ''Today, the Democratic party of FDR, Truman, and JFK no longer exists. Instead, most of the current Democratic leaders in Congress have shown that they dont give a damn about the security of the American people, nor the morale of our military, unless there is a political opportunity in store for them.'' Since the time I wrote those words, I can point to a plethora of comments from the nine Democratic presidential wannabes and other Democrats. Their constant and vitriolic criticism of President Bush and the War on Terror only makes them look like eunuchs at an orgy. But the greatest proof to the veracity of my comments exists in a memo coming from Democrats on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. It strategizes how to use intelligence to justify the Iraq war against the Bush Administration during the 2004 election. Included in the memo is a call for, ''...an independent investigation when it becomes clear we have exhausted the opportunity to usefully collaborate with the majority. We can pull the trigger (emphasis mine) on an independent investigation at any time--but we can only do so once. The best time to do so will probably be next year (2004).'' Whats even worse is the refusal of Democrats on the committee to disavow it. Sen. Jay Rockefeller, (D-WV) would not denounce the memo. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) continued his Bush-bashing on the floor of the Senate, even after the existence of the memo was brought to Americas attention via Sean Hannitys radio show. On Fox News Sunday with Tony Snow, Sen. Carl Levin (D-Michigan) followed Rockefellers lead and claimed the memo was stolen. Their comments are telling. These Democrats clearly are more upset that the memo was made public, than that someone would dare attempt to politicize something as important as intelligence matters which affects all Americans. Democrats and their allies like the American Criminal Liberties Union (ACLU) act as if President Bush and Attorney General John Ashcroft are a bigger threat than Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. It's all for their own selfish political gain as well as a thirst for revenge against Republicans for Bill Clintons impeachment and the 2000 election. Intelligence is an issue where partisanship should not come into play. With the threats facing our troops in Iraq, as well as possible terrorist attacks in this nation, this is a sensitive issue. Using intelligence as political hay can jeopardize the sources for those warnings. Who would want to give this nation intelligence if they knew it would be politicized? Yet, the continuous lies from the Democratic party about the War with Iraq only embolden our enemies, because they think more attacks will weaken our resolve. I believe an independent investigation of this memo and the Democrats on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence should be authorized. It is time for the Republican majority to get a backbone and quit playing the nice guys. America needs to know: what did the Democrats know and when did they know it? Any Democrat on the committee should be forced to resign if found to have participated in the use of intelligence for partisan purposes. I would also go further than that. They should be removed from the United States Senate, as they will have lost their ability to be entrusted with the responsibility of leadership. I also believe treason charges and imprisonment should be brought against those involved in this memo, since we are currently at war. Our military needs to know their nation and its leaders are behind them. Their morale depends upon that spirit of national unity. This partisan trick by the Democrats threatens to undermine the morale of those who defend this great nation. Even worse, it attempts to weaken our resolve in the fight against terror by dividing us, thus aiding and abetting our enemies. Those whove died in the fight against terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the Americans killed on 9/11 deserve better than the partisan divisiveness of Jay Rockefeller, Carl Levin, Dick Durbin, and their ilk.
Well, in the time horizon the Democrats think -- the next election cycle -- Bush and Company are a greater threat to Democratic Party power and their plan to socialize America! [Thank God!!]
Yeah it does!
Who allowd spies to be so numerous in our government that one was only a step from being president?
Who supported the Communist Chinese and enabled them to take a country of a billion people?
Who refused to support Cuban patriots at a time when they could have freed Cuba?
Eloquently stated!
I would only add that the democRATs with their "vote for me and I'll give you some gubmint money" ploy has been so effective at getting themselves elected over the years that the republicans are starting to use it too.
Tragic.
So where is the GOP as far as forcing the issue?
At first I was excited avbout Frist's restricting some Intel. Committee activities, but it's beginning to look more & more like a token response.
If they (the GOP)do nothing, they are just as guilty.
