That is a valid point. A little-discussed factor in Reid's success is that he consistantly wins the votes of many Mormon Republicans. The fact that Reid is Mormon is a factor. And there are a substantial number of them in parts of Nevada, like Henderson in Clark County, and many parts of northern Nevada (My previous landlords are Mormons). But Reid's noisy filibustering of judges the 'Rats fear are pro-life is not going to win any points with them. Maybe Orrin Hatch should make a campaign visit for Krolicki next year.

Maybe Orrin Hatch should make a campaign visit for Krolicki next year. And Gordon Smith and Jon Kyl and John Ensign? and Mike Crapo? . . .
I'm forgetting the members of the Mormon Mafia. I need a beer. And two wives.

"So Krolicki needs to win back those Reno voters. Do you think he can do that? If so, please tell us how. "
Reid has skeletons in his closet that haven't been brought out. I know this by rumor from the people I deal with. Reid needs to be dirtied up first, so people need to dig a bit. Hint: figure out his current net worth and what kind of homes he keeps here and in DC, I think that will get it going. I think he can be linked to the current G-Sting scandal.

Thank you so much for the information, I certainly feel
better informed.

Here's some stuff I came up with to try and gauge Krolicki's chances:
Total Votes for Republican Congressional Candidates :
*1998 = 275,163
*2000 = 330,884
*2002 = 301,078
Total Votes for Each Candidate Last Two Senate Races:
*1998 = Reid 208,621 : Ensign 208,222
*2000 = Ensign 330,687 : Bernstein 238,260
Presidential Results for Republican Candidate:
*1996 = Clinton 203,974 : Dole 199,244
*2000 = Bush 301,575 : Gore 279,978
Heller and Krolicki Previous Two Races:
*1998 = Heller 270,024 : Krolicki 249,549
*2002 = Heller 298,125 : Krolicki 271,393
I think those results clearly demonstrate that either Heller or Krolicki have a chance to make things very interesting for Reid. They will need help, though, especially in fundraising.

you know it really looks like the dems are going to be devastated politically in the next 10 years. Seriously this is going to be a several generation move to the right.

My only hope is that, if Mr. Krolicki indeed enters the Senate race, Jack Woodcock drops out. I would hate to see newspaper headlines touting the "Krolicki-Woodcock Debate."
But seriously, Krolicki sounds like a solid candidate, although I'd like to know about (i) his stance on social issues and (ii) his role, if any, in Guinn's tax-hiking fiasco.

ii) He was totally on board with it as treasurer.

Well, he shouldn't run for the Senate then. Being a Gibbons-like "pro-choice" but pro-PBA is not optimal, but not entirely unacceptable in Nevada, but if Krolicki was "totally on board" with the unconstitutional tax hike then he has no business running as a Republican for dogcatcher, much less U.S. Senator.
Could someone talk to Lynette Boggs-McDonald and convince her to run then? I know I expressed apprehension when you touted her as a possible winner a few months ago, but now I don't think we have any other choice. Rove was unsuccessful back in the Spring in trying to get her to run, but maybe he'd have more luck now.

LB McD has been in a little feud over something-or-other recently, I think. Prolly not the best time.
The current stars of Nevada Republicanism are all cut from the same cloth: Guinn, Sandoval, Heller, Krolicki (I don't know about Hunt). For now we kinda have to live with it and hope they get some better folks in the GOP primaries. Jon Porter could win statewide some day, and Lynette. But in the here and now, we gotta go with what we have.

Bush needs to nominate more alumni from Brigham Young for judgeships. Being a graduate from BYU is a sure disqualifer for Leaky Leahy. Reid would be hard pressed to justify the RAT filibuster to his Mormon voters.
***Gordon Smith and Jon Kyl and John Ensign? and Mike Crapo?***
Forget about these guys. We need Mormon actress, Eliza Dushku, to make a few campaign appearances.

Think Ensign will help him out? He's like best buds with Reid now. Same with Gordon Smith and Wyden in Oregon. Get narrowly beat by rat and you become his best friend?
