Internet Censorship Coming to a Computer Near EU (And they're talkin' 'bout US!)

In his 1964 seminal work, Understanding Media, media analyst Marshall Mcluhan coined his famously cryptic line of "The Medium is the Message" whereby to the popular mind he sounded incredibly deep and totally shallow all at once. However, his message of how media affects culture and society is even more relevant today given the dominance of the Web on mass communications, commerce, and the free and unregulated exchange of information world wide. The Web can literally be seen as the physical manifestation of Carl Jung's Collective Subconscious whereby if it's been thought, it has a Web page.
For the average, non-technical user the terms Web and Internet are exchangeable although the Web is a sub-division of the Internet. There are five divisions of the Internet: email, ftp (file transfer protocol), telnet, the Web, and I forget the last division but no, it's not spam, porno, or pop-ups. Unfortunately, international socialism, as evidenced by the unelected bureaucrats of the EU is using the pornography excuse along with race hate and religious intolerance to censor and control what's on the Internet.
Over in Euroland the Euro-socialists are seriously going about establishing a real censorship not seen since Hitler's Third Reich; perhaps it's not a coincidence that in the UK, among certain conservative circles, the EU is often referred to as the Fourth Reich. The EU just passed an amendment to their Convention on Cybercrime that outlaws any speech these thought crime specialists deem as "any written material, any image or any other representation of ideas or theories, which advocates, promotes or incites hatred, discrimination or violence, against any individual or group of individuals, based on race, colour, descent or national or ethnic origin, as well as religion if used as pretext for any of these factors." If passed into law by the various national legislatures which comprise the EU, online books, such as Oriana Fallaci's The Rage and Pride, which is an honest and impassioned examination of Islamic immigration into the West or even The Bible, which is examined and reproduced extensively on the Web, could be deemed "hate speech" by Muslims in France and homosexual activists in the UK respectively.
Any site which tries to honestly discuss and debate illegal immigration, the Iraqi War, cultural clashes, homosexuality, Israel's right to existance, or even conservatism itself can be declared a hate site. In the EU, as in any socialist society, politically correct speech shifts constantly as expediency, vengence, and fashion dictate. A year before this Convention on Cybercrime amendment was proposed, British server companies anticipated the coming censorship and started pressuring sites whose contents made them nervous. Web sites devoted to nostalgia, which carry the innocently charming children's books by Helen Bannerman or items about Golliwogs, felt the heat. Now, according to EU censors, even suspect or disapproved of links on a Web page devoid of what the Brussels bureacrats deem inflammatory can get the original site in trouble.

Erm... according to their thoughtcrime standards, the EU is illegal based on its position on Israel.

Let the EU censor their own population. Remember, what makes the US powerful is not the technology, but the freedom of ideas, and modern capital system (not tied up by social costs) that supports the innovation of new products and organizations. When conservatives criticize immorality, we use critical thinking to attack the detrimental results of behavior. Censor our viewpoint the EU also censors critical thinking. Let the EU bind themselves into self inflicted social costs. More money tied up taking care of social problems, less is available to develop products to compete against us in the market place.

If not stopped it will only be a matter of time before this comes to the US. Remember the Supreme Court is already using laws established in the "international community" as the bases of our laws.

From the article:
What will happen if the French police start asking local U.S. police to give them information about the people running a site?"
Unless we the people start DEMANDING that our judicial system exclusively use our laws to make decisions, not "world opinion" or any other such nonsense, our police WILL roll over and supply the French or any other EU weenie police agency any information they ask for. We had better keep an eye on our government with regards to the International Criminal Court as well. If they go squishy on that the EU can have us arrested as well.

I wouldn't worry to much about US freedoms, we are too crazy to let people impose much tyranny on us. Most the nation is turning to the Republican party. A party that encourages gun ownership, that ideal alone runs counter to tyrannical planning.

Unless the Republicans can get qualified judges who will interpret the Constitution fairly, liberal lawyers will find liberal judges who will overturn any and all laws they don't agree with. Just look at partial birth abortion. The Republicans better see this. While everything else may be in the Republicans hands, contrary to what the DemocRATS says, the courts are not.

Too bad you don´t seem to be half as smart as your ancestors. It´s been a long time since i´ve read such a primitive post. At least you´re only spreading your ideas in an american forum, otherwise you´d be an embarassement for your country. If one my people would write something like that about the USA, i would tear him apart before he´s able to embarasse my country like this. I know your resentments against us and i don´t feel like changing your mind, but i can´t stand someone like you insulting my ancestors. Your reply lacks any sort of arguments so it´s not even worth discussing it. Maybe foreign policy is a bit too difficult for you? Why don´t you start all over again? This time consult a more radical forum. I think they would appreciate your style.
I think all of you are exagerating a bit. There´s still no internet censorship in europe and i doubt it will be like in the article above. I´ve been lurking around at FR for some time now and i noticed that everytime there´s an article about how bad the bad things are going in your country you start complaining about how the media is wrong. Well there´s nothing worng with being skeptic, but everytime there´s an article like this about the EU you believe it right away. Everytime someone tries to spread the lie everyone here in Germany denies the crimes of their ancestors in WWII you believe it, even though it´s just crap from a little idiot who tries to sound like a "true" conservative. You show so much hatred against the EU that some of you stop thinking and start writing senseless replies like Mr "Ihatealleuropeans" Porterville.
Sorry for the provocative beginning of this reply but comments like that drive me insane.
If you are interested i would present information from other sources about this "censorship"

'All these measures were part of the preestablished de-Cossackization plan approved in a secret resolution of the Bolshevik Party's Central Committee on 24 January 1919: " In view of the experiences of the civil war against the Cossacks, we must recognize as the only politically correct measure massive terror and a merciless fight against the rich Cossacks, who must be exterminated and physically disposed of, down to the last man."'
The Black Book of Communism - Crimes, Terror, Repression, Stephane Courtois, Harvard University Press, 1999, p.99.
----------------------------------------------------------
"Politically correct" is communist terminology. Always has been, always will be.
How many millions have suffered and died, and how many millions more will die to make sure things are kept politically correct?

Oh, you are new. Get use to people joking around and shed that thin skin of yours or go to the DU where they just love being sensitive. P.S. screw the EU... I'm sorry was that mean???

If start a Flame war here on Free Republic with the object in mind of defending the Euroexcreta, then you're going to find yourself sucking on a hind tit (a little Midwestern-American farmer lingo there)!
We'll just begin posting articles to illustrate the resurgence of anti-Americanism, anti-Semitism and fascism in Europe in general and German in particular.
