"It was Robert Ford, that dirty little coward,
I wonder how he did feel,
For he ate of Jesse's bread, and he slept in Jesse's bed,
Then he laid poor Jesse in his grave."

Ford shot James in the back of the head and his pistol sells for $350,000. Charles Whitman shot >30 folks from the Clock Tower at the University of Texas and his rifles just sold for less than a $1000. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. I wouldn't want either one of those weapons.

Little John's has some awesome gun auctions.

Robert Ford was indeed a dirty coward. I wouldn't want the gun.

The "Smith & Wesson" revolver????!!!!!!!
Robert Ford used a .44 caliber Colt SAA "Peacemaker" revolver with a 7 12" barrel to shoot Jesse James and it was not nickel-plated.

A hobby I picked up coming to North America is Western History- American style. I pored over a bunch of old Western magazines (no value though) and thought (if not assuming to much) the "rest of the story".
I read that in the rip roaring boom town of Crede, Colorado, the "dirty little coward" made his way. He tried to corner the market on saloons. Pretty near did too. A fire broke out and destroyed the town. Who pops up and quick next two days but the "dirty little coward"- he ran a beer tent- photographs exist.
A fellow just waltzed in and blew him apart with a shotgun. As to the weapon. Hopefully the buyer has authentication. What a piece of history it is- if the original

Oddly worded headline. I wonder if the San Diego Union-Tribune has some sort of prohibition against putting the word "killed" in headlines. The first sentence in the article's body says "the gun that killed Jesse James" which would be the more natural way of putting it. On the other hand, saying that a gun killed someone is an anthropomorphism along the lines of those SUV stories that Rush likes to point out.
