Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger, who asked California voters to "join Arnold" during the recall election, won't be able to extend the same offer to the masses at his historic swearing-in ceremony Monday. The Republican's inaugural committee on Tuesday announced that attendance at the outdoor event at the Capitol will be restricted, with no access allowed for the general public.

Republicans always have this problem unlike the democRATs who usually give the choice seats to the people who voted most often.

Sounds like maybe the Sacramento Bee got only one press pass and it didn't include the continental breakfast. They'll have to settle for sour grapes instead.

I'm sure Gray Davis' inaugurals weren't restricted to campaign supporters. <sarcasm

Do you mean to tell me that foreign reporters are more important than California voters. You people have your priorities all screwed up!

Schwarzenegger team to distribute general admission inaugural tickets

(11-11) 17:21 PST SACRAMENTO (AP) --
The only general admission tickets to Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger's inauguration ceremony will be given to unidentified community groups for distribution to the public, Schwarzenegger's inaugural office announced Tuesday.
Martin Wilson, executive director of Schwarzenegger's swearing-in committee, said given the "extraordinary" interest in the Nov. 17 event, a "broad range of the public and statewide organizations" have been asked to help with distribution of the tickets.
But a spokesman for the committee, Nick Garcia, said it will not disclose which community groups will distribute tickets or how many tickets they will receive. He said that will prevent the groups from being inundated with ticket requests.
The inauguration will take place Monday at 11 a.m. on the west steps of the state Capitol. About 7,500 invited guests will receive tickets to the event, which is being sponsored and paid for by a nonprofit organization.
There will be no general admission tickets available on the day of the event.

I'm shocked... SHOCKED! to hear that there are no general peasants allowed at the Camelot Superstar's Inaugural Ball. I always believed that when you added political power to the celebrity elite they became more accessible.

I was invited and alotted two tickets. Unfortunately, I do not have the financial means to attend. My County travel budget is also slim and must be utilized for meetings productive to my constituents.
I will, however, save the invitation for my children as memorabilia.
Anyway, that is two seats back into the pool.

memorabilia, heck? eBay . ;-) LOL
I expect and hope that some Special Olympics and disadvantaged kids will get some of the tickets. I just hope Kofi Annan and Nelson Mandela are not there(did I say that?), but I'm just funny that way. :-)
