Wow! I reqd this article this morning and suddenly I feel a whole lot better! We're in much better shape than we realize, especially if you compare our position twenty yeaers ago, as the author suggests. And twenty years ago there was no such thing as the conservative, alternative news media.

I guess there will be more and more people switching to the Republican party from the dem party. Polls seem to indicate this and the Republican party will be considered a "mainstream" party while the dems tack leftward. Something is going to give, the dems are going to have a split or slowly sink into obscurity. I can't imagine the conservative/moderate dems will just sit and watch this happen, they will split off from the dems to form a new party.

We must be careful not to get into the way of the Democrat! We must guard the integrity of the GOP's direction. And maintain a wide umbrella for all!

...Democrats seem to be careening further leftward -- and backward -- toward ... irrelevance and political suicide. Sounds good to me!

It would seem, however, that the minority party can call the shots--witness the judicial filibuster.

IMHO the Democrates have proven themselves to be the party of racists, communist and baby killers.
No freedom loving American wants to be associated with that.

The political realignment of the South is having a spreading effect. The Dims don't seem to recall that while much of the South has been historically Democrats, they have been conservative Democrats. The further the Dims move to the left, the more they erode their power base and they can't seem to stop the knee-jerk move to the far left when things go wrong. Sweet!!!

...conservative ideals of entrepreneurship, individual responsibility, smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense and traditional values have become increasingly mainstream during the past 20 years; the recent GOP successes simply reflect that fact.In spite of the effort to dumb down our public education with liberal themes and the effort to re-write history in some areas, Americans are still embodied with our Founding Fathers America, a Republic not a democracy.
The left has spawned some pretty anti-American people who never left their socialist beginnings behind when they came here or their children were taught little patriotism and pride in their country while in school. The left can only mimic, just repeat and repeat their rhetoric about what is wrong with this or that administration but never give a coherent way to fix anything. Their echos are growing fainter with each passing day. The GOP isnt perfect, but a far cry from these socialists who would render America impotent, besides, the GOP stands for America and Americans.

Democratic losses of governorships is harming them significantly in terms of developing leaders. Governors (including now Howard Dean) have become the candidates of choice, and even Howard Dean's ascendancy is reflective of that.
Back in 1980s and 1990s, the Democrats had several governors to pick from as presidential candidates. Clinton, Cuomo, Dukakis. Today who do they have? Their top state governors now are Jennifer Granholm in Michigan (who is constitutionally ineligible to run for President), Bill Richardson in NM, and Rod Blagojevich in Illinois.

It am noticing this trend in local elections also, we have about 10% more registered Democrats than Republicans here, last Tuesday two Republicans were elected to the City Council, there are now 4 Republicans, and two Democrats on the Council, with a Republican Mayor who was elected two years ago.

This all sounds good. We own the White House the Senate and the House. Then how come we cant get a judge appointed? I dont think we are as well off as one would think.

While liberal Democrats feverishly try to spin away the reality, the truth is that conservative ideals of entrepreneurship, individual responsibility, smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense and traditional values have become increasingly mainstream during the past 20 yearsBears repeating.

The Wisconsin Concealed Carry bill was sent to the Governor yesterday. He said he was going to veto it.
With the CCW laws still up in the air in Wisconsin and Missouri, I think the voters will kick the dem governors out as soon as they can.
That should add two more for the count.
