Dear Mr. Pryor:
Your actions with respect to Judge Moore confuse me.
Is "Thou Shalt Not Steal" offensive to you? (I'm glad I don't own property in Alabama)
Is "Thou Shalt Not Murder" problematic for you? (I'm glad I don't live in Alabama)
Is "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery" hurtful to you? (I'm glad you don't know my wife.)
Is "Thou Shalt not Bear False Witness" repugnant to you? (I'm glad I never had to seek justice in your state.)
Is "Thou Shalt Have no Other Gods Before Me" distasteful to you? (What with lightning bolts and all, I'm glad I dont worship next to you.)
We are a nation of laws, Mr. Pryor, and not of men. I'm just confused as to which laws you follow.

Trouble controlling anger, EV? Did I say anything about the war? Nope - just noted that Moore's troops hated him enough to try and kill him, and that he blamed it on some guy smoking too much dope. That touch a nerve or something?

With a Doctorate in Government from Harvard and a buck, I can buy a cup of coffee.
And its a helluva lot more legitimate use of that doctorate than being a perennial failed candidate and marginalized cult pundit (although it doesn't pay as well as that gig he has).

It really is a shame he couldn't get his trial moved to the arena. Or at least broadcast on TBN. But then he wouldn't be able to make up all kinds of stuff about how unfair the proceedings were.I would love this baby shown on Court TV...but I would've loved to see Moore and Pryor go at it in one of those Thunderdome kind of deals even more.
I will have to check, but I thought they were going to feed closed circuit into a media room for those not lucky enough to get tickets to the Big Show. Come to think about it, being in the media room would be more fun than sitting in a courtroom behaving myself.

I have said repeatedly what I think he, and his revisionist colleagues, did, and continue to do, wrong.
You just refuse to hear anything that doesn't agree with your preconceived notions.
To: EternalVigilance
Nah - I don't need any talking points. The 11th Circuit op pretty much covers it all.

Pryor is AG of AL, not Bishop of Birmingham

It isn't anti-Catholic bias you're showing. It's anti-Catholic hatred you're demonstrating.

As usual, you are willfully deaf, dumb and blind.
I said that his great capacity for understanding the founding principles was in spite of that Doctorate.
As for the rest, it is just more of your usual spew against conservative leaders that you despise.

I must've missed that. Can you point me to a post? All I heard you say is the old lame "Congress shall make no law" - I'm sure you know that Thompson doesn't have the power to overrule decades of incorporation jurisprudence - and "what law did Moore make" - I'm sure you know that Thompson can't single-handedly dispense with the notion of state action being unconstitutional, even if it were a good idea - kind of arguments. Can you state anything Thompson did wrong that he wasn't compelled to do by controlling law, or do you just think that District Court judges should overrule SCOTUS with impunity?

That touch a nerve or something? No trouble at all. I just find it interesting to hear you chortling about fragging.

Um, Mr. History Major? Need I point out the troublesome detail of the fact that Catholic Italy wasn't buying the whole antisemitic thing that seemed to grip heavily Protestant North and Central Germany, and that Italian Jews weren't in danger until the Bosch took over?
Need I also point out that recent events have Italians at extreme odds with the EU over antisemite coddling?

Can you state anything Thompson did wrong that he wasn't compelled to do by controlling law, or do you just think that District Court judges should overrule SCOTUS with impunity? Maybe you lawyers have mucked things up so bad that it is unfixable. I hope not. Shakespeare's solution is not an attractive one for anybody.
To: EternalVigilance
Chortling? You think your ears are that good? Actually, I think it is sad - but it is also consistent with someone with a unique inability to believe that anyone but himself could possibly be right - those are the kind that set themselves up to be a target for their own men. It is a story that is a pretty good indicator of who is out in left field here.

To call him a leader, he would actually have to have a significant following.
You're being a bit overambitious in describing him thus.
To: EternalVigilance
It is a lame argument because it has been settled by SCOTUS law for almost a century. You got anything that Thompson could've ruled that wouldn't overrule longstanding precedent? I thought not.

When drafted the First Amendment did not apply to states. The Consitution is open to amendment. The 14th Amendment extended the civil liberties mentioned in the Bill of Rights to states. The 14th Amendment was never meant to incorporate the "establishment clause". Evidence of that can be found in the failure of the Blaine Amendment to pass Congress some 14 times. Despite the failure of the Blaine Amendment applying the BOR's to the states, each and every state managed all by their little ole selves to amend their state Constitutions so as to disestablish state religions not to mention that it wasn't properly ratified. Having said that, there are several schools of thought as to what exactly the 14th incorporstes and what it doesn't. I'll leave you to figure out what they are.
Duh.
Whoops, there goes your link.
To: lugsoul
Why would you bring that up in the context of your attacks on Moore as some kind of proof that he's a 'bad guy'?
It's rather sick.
To: Chancellor Palpatine
You wish.
