WHAT: On Wednesday, November 12, the House of Representatives and leaders of the American Muslim community will hold a Ramadan iftar, or fast breaking, on Capitol Hill.
WHEN: Wednesday, November 12, 4:45 - 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: House Judiciary Committee Hearing Room, 2141 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The iftar is being co-hosted by Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.), Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.), Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.), and Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Cafli.).
"This important event will provide an excellent opportunity for elected officials and congressional staffers to learn more about the American Muslim community and the significance of Ramadan," said Hasan Mansori, governmental relations coordinator for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). "It will also send a message of tolerance and respect for religious diversity."
The Capitol Hill iftar will include breaking of the fast with water and dates, the call to prayer (adhan), the Islamic sunset prayer (maghrib), an ecumenical prayer by a Muslim religious leader, and remarks by the congressional hosts.
CAIR, America's largest Muslim civil liberties group, is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and has 25 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada

I should have said aren't there some seperation of church and state issues here. And as for that stamp, I don't even know what it means. Are there any Christian stamps? If so, isn't that another seperation of church and state issue?!?

How can they have an "ecumenical" prayer when the first tenet of Islam is "there is no god but Allah and Mohamed (sic) is his prophet". Sounds rather intolerant to me!

Liberal Hallmark card.
Happy Ramadan, may your burque fit you well, and the camels don't pee on your prayer carpet.

I want to see American Islamic leaders condemn publicaly terrorism against America and ISRAEL. They cannot, as the leading religious instructor in Mecca has officialy decreed that Slavery and Jihad are the foundation of Islam. They have a choice, be American or be Islamic, they cannot be both unlike other religions.

Christmas now being politically incorrect, I'd assume that religious celebrations of other persuasions would also be out of line. Any religion but Christianity is ok, and that should be a big clue to the clueless.

Folks,
Like me I'm sure many of you are disturbed by Federal Property being used to celebrate Ramadan, a Muslim holiday while Islamists push to turn this nation away from the Traditional Christian values which our our foundation in American.
My question is what are people doing about it? I am thinking about starting something to mail media and government officials but I don't want to duplicate efforts.
I feel strongly that we have to fight the good fight now, or we will look up and wonder what has happened to America.
God Bless America
