I was trying to say that one of the reasons that our FReep did not get much media exposure is that the actual event itself (the awards dinner for Dan Rather and the producers from "Friends") ALSO got very little media coverage.
For some reason. But, I will keep looking. :o)
Ding, ding, ding!
Seek, and ye shall find...
It's not much, but this is a START:
Here is a short EXCERPT from
www.msnbc.com:
Rather, Friends team saluted |
|
Tribute part of the Museum of Television and Radio fundraiser |
|
By Cynthia Littleton THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER |
|
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 11 The tributes flowed freely Monday night as the Museum of Television & Radio saluted a contemporary icon of broadcast journalism and three of the most successful sitcom writer-producers in recent memory during the organizations annual fund-raising gala. |
CBS DAN RATHER and the "Friends" creative brain trust of Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane were feted during the ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel, hosted by NBCs Jay Leno, for their contributions to the medium.
Like a good news reporter, CBS Rather kept his acceptance remarks short, sweet and to the point. The anchor and managing editor of the "CBS Evening News" thanked the crowd for implicitly recognizing "the importance of a free and independent American press" in honoring his work during the past five decades at CBS.
Even as a handful of protesters gathered outside the hotel with placards accusing Rather of betraying a liberal bias in his work, the veteran newsman told the audience inside that his guiding philosophy in his work had always been "to be accurate and to be fair as much as humanly possible and when theres heat, face the furnace and take it."

Good report. Thanks to all who made that happen. Dan deserves to get no respite from the criticism.

Sounds like you had great visibility. That's good because it'll be a small reality check for the liberals. Remember, they've had a strict diet of nothing but the liberal view up until now. You guys were a dose of truth. Notice how they wrinkled their noses taking the medicine?
To: FreedomPoster
Thank you. I stand on the shoulders of giants. Kudos to Dr. Raoul and others for their support and planning. We "bedeviled" Hillary at at least a dozen of her book signings this Summer, perhaps as many as 15. Hillary believes her own press, i'e', "Eveybody loves Hillary". She believes it so much that she believes that all those devil sightings have to be just ONE person.

Sorry to take so long to respond RonDog...
The CB
IAS sign was nine feet wide and the large letters were about 18 inches tall. The morphed CB
IASed logo was about 22 inches tall. As you are aware, the photo in your post
#60 on this thread was taken from the opposite side of the entrance driveway to the Hotel Beverly Hills. Occupants of the cars transiting the hotel entrance got an even closer view of this sign.
For those who were not there, just to the left of where we were holding the sign (photo left, our right) was Sunset Boulevard. Traffic at 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. is very heavy on Sunset. Also, this is at an intersection of three busy streets. Instead of the usual four corners, there are six there. Our signs were visible to tens of thousands of people as they drove by during our Freep.
Ron, you asked me to explain how we create the large signs. The CB
IAS sign started out as a small 908x235 graphic on my computer. I used a poster creation program to blow it up. The poster creation program is linked from my (the
FRN)
Sign Bank. This program will allow you to blow up a sign to nine feet by nine feet. If you're creative you can slice your graphic into sections and print those sections out up to nine feet wide, thus increasing your final sign product to just about whatever size you desire. The program costs $18.00. Neither I, FR or the FRN are affiliated with the poster program provider.
I have created color signs as large as six feet by six feet. Here is an example. I created this graphic for a rally in La Canada a few years back. The photo is six feet by six feet.
Thanks for putting the protest together RonDog. Great job. We had lots of fun out there and got our message across.
Here's two more photos of the sight where we Freeped.

Additional information on the poster program...
What the program does, is print out a blown up portion of your graphic on a number of pages of paper. After it has printed them out, you will have to tape them together. Double sided tape is the best bet, but it's a little tricky. When you pull off the double sided tape, it stretches a little. If you affix it right away, it can un-stretch and crinkle your paper, so you need to be careful.
I've tried using tacky contact paper or shelf paper as a backing to place sign pieces together on. I've also used non-glare tape.
As you can tell, color and black and white signs are supported, but your printer must be up to snuff. When it comes to putting the pages together, it helps if you've got a printer that can print 13" x 19" or larger pages. It will reduce the number of cells you have to combine to complete your project.

The sign of a successful Freep, is when the media echos your main talking point.
Even as a handful of protesters gathered outside the hotel with placards accusing Rather of betraying a liberal bias in his work,...
Nice! Freep on...

Thanks for the ping and most excellent Freep of Gunga Dan.

Yeay! Someone mentioned us! And they sounded like it was ironic that Rather would continue to pretend he's fair and balanced!

Plus, our protest got twenty-two (22) words in their article - out of the two hundred sixty-seven (267) total words that they wrote about Dan Rather.
That's not too bad. :o)
There were HUNDREDS of them at the dinner, and only TEN of us, counting your daughter.
And, as D1 notes, our simple message came through loud and clear:Dan "Rather is ratherBIASED!"
