On this occasion, she said, she and her companions ordered drinks, appetizers and soup, but sent the soup back because it was lukewarm. When she got it back she found the condom.Sending food back to the kitchen can be a risky business

Like my mama always said, you can get pregnant from a dirty toilet seat and from condoms in your soup.

They're using
Mrs. Murphy's brand chowder at that restaurant, I see.

If you ever saw a geoduck (pronounced gooie-duck) clam, you would understand the condum.

I have heard it said from restaurant workers NEVER to send anything back. NEVER. Either eat what they serve, or, if it is inedible, explain to the manager why you are leaving and eat somewhere else.
Usually, I assume that the "found" item was planted by someone looking for a fast settlement. In this case the factors against that are the 15 minutes of vomiting (claimed), and the pit about sendint it back first. On the other hand, it's hard to believe that a grumpy kitchen worker would put something so obvious in a customer's food, which would lead to certain detection. I'd be more worried about body fluids.

after one says she found condom in her chowder I hear that's quite common in "Bearded clam" chowder.

Maybe the restaurant didn't want the chowder to have crabs!

The worse part is, she couldn't tell whether the condom had been used -she was eating milky white chowder. Was this a Chinese recipe?
Cream of sum yung gai?

Sending food back to the kitchen can be a risky business Yep. Anyone who has ever worked in a restaurant kitchen will tell you that sending food back with a complaint is tantamount to taking your life into your own hands. I've heard horribly gross stuff happens pretty frequently if you do that.
