What does "buy American" really mean when many, if not most, components are usually sourced from all over the world?

There is truly no such thing as an "American" "German" or "Mexican" product anymore due to global component outsourcing. The possible exception may be toys and textiles from China, as even electronics assembled in China contain components manufactured elsewhere.

That is true, but I will try my best to buy American assembled awith as many American parts as possible.

Well that depends on what the meaning of "is" is.
